Evans Sinks De Minaur at 2.37 in Montreal

I am enjoying blogging on Sports Talk about tennis and feel that you do actually get rewarded well for writing on sports analysis. I am constantly on the lookout for people similar to me writing analysis about upcoming matches sports fans will be interested in. In particular writing about things others on the internet are not, that sort of content is more likely to pull in new readers. I feel motivated to continue with my tennis match predictions. A lot of what I write you won't find anywhere else on the internet. Does that mean my analysis are spot on? No! But atleast I am talking and making an effort with sports events not blogged about elsewhere, I know that will attract some good attention eventually.

Unlike football and some other popular sports, tennis matches don't get blogged about and analysed so much so matches I pick for analysis and predictions should hopefully in time attract a whole new series of readers. Even more so if I start calling more right than wrong (which is easier said than done!).

Happily tonight this is my 4th win in a row as Daniel Evans downed Alex De Minaur in straight sets at odds of 2.37. This match that I watched lived went pretty much as predicted. It was Evans with a finer touch at the net and that little bit more quality when it counted including on his defensive slice off the backhand. Particularly Evans took the bull by it's horns rather than sit back and wait for errors from De Minaur. The Australian was a little too happy to do that in the first set and left it late to start trying to pressure Evans in the second. When he did try apply pressure, it looked clumsy with the youngster missing too many fundamental volleys and smashes on key points.

Evans made the perfect start to the match breaking in the first game and it was that break that proved decisive as he snatched the first set 6-4. In the second De Minaur finally broke to make it 4-2. But they say in tennis you've never broken until you hold. That is such a true statement rather than a cliche. Too many times with breaks of serves players then relax and forget the job isn't done yet. De Minaur did this in the seventh game and Evans only needed one single break point chance to punish him, although admittedly it was from an error off De Minaur's racket.

With it being all square Evans clinched the match with his second match point in the tie break. This match was a story of De Minaur not quiet knowing how to break Evans down and keep himself ahead. The young Australian looked indecisive at times regarding his strategy, this was more obvious towards the end of the second when his forages to the net were clumsy and gifted Evans some crucial swing points.

While De Minaur looked unsure, Evans looked composed at the net and finished off his volleys with confidence. Unfortunately for the Brit, he's playing Nadal tomorrow. That will definitely be a match I stay well clear of. No matter how high Evans odds will be, he isn't worth entertaining vs Nadal.
