Have you ever seen this sport anywhere?
This sport is called ‘Bakiak Race’. Bakiak is actually wooden sandals. In this race, bakiak is made of a long piece of wood with several rubber loops which serve as the footing. This sport is very popular especially when Indonesia is celebrating its Independence Day. You will find this game being played everywhere.
Bakiak race is a team game, thus, a good cooperation is very essential. The one at the very front will give command to the other teammates by shouting ‘left, right, left, right’. The hardest part is when they have to turn around and go back to the starting point. Some manage to do it, but some others will stumble. And when they do stumble, the crowd is making so much noise to cheer them up.
