The Golden State Warriors Are The Most Dominant NBA Playoff Team, EVER

in #sports8 years ago (edited)

You knew they were good. You knew they were dominant...

But, did you know that they are officially the most dominant playoff team in NBA history?

That's right.

After going 12-0, the Golden State Warriors became the first NBA team to go undefeated AND win 12 games in route to the NBA finals.

Several other teams have gone undefeated on their route to the finals, but they have never done it in the modern era where they have to win 12 games to do so.

The 2001 and 1989 Lakers also went undefeated on their trip to the finals but they "only" had to win 11 games to get there.

But wait, there's more...

Not only are the Warriors the only team to go 12-0 in route to the NBA Finals, but they have done so with the largest margin of victory as well.

Their average margin of victory has been 16.3 points, besting the 2001 Lakers previous record of 15.5 points.

So, not only have the Warriors been beating everyone, but they have been beating the living stuffing out of them.

Last season we saw them set the all time single season best record for wins.

This season we are seeing them set the all time playoff margin of victory record.

We are quite possibly witnessing the greatest team to ever play the game.

We are living in a great time to watch good basketball folks.

The NBA Finals don't start for at least a week, depending on how long the Celtics can stick around, but remember to truly enjoy the greatness we are watching whenever they do take the court again.

The Golden State Warriors are quite possibly the greatest team to ever lace em up.

I'm Argentine, and I'm a fan of the Spurs. Beyond that. I did not know this, I thought the Lakers were the most dominant in the NBA. Good information my friend and let's go Manu Ginobili!

Very good find. I knew they were dominant, but most dominant ever, wow. I'm a Cavs fan, so I have my rose colored glasses on and claim blind obsession and optimistic derangement in refusing to acknowledge the Warriors dominance. :)

Good read man. I knew the Shaq and Kobe Lakers back in the day had the record, but totally missed out on GSW taking the thrown. Thanks, time to blow my boys away with that little tid bit :)

Let's wait to call them the greatest team ever until they win the finals. Which they won't ;)

NBA is amazing and fun.

amazing stats! great team

I am a fan of good basketball and while I may not agree with some personalities on the team, I don't really watch for their personality. These guys are a complete team and I feel like I'll be telling my kids and grandkids about them for a long time.

Can't help but also mention that LeBron is the greatest player alive. I absolutely loathe him, and how he left Cleveland but I can't deny his skill. Unfortunately that doesn't always mean the team will be great. The Warriors are a great team.

I did not know this. I would have guessed the lakers.
