Gremio have confirmed Arthur Melo will move to Barcelona in January.
The two clubs have agreed on an option rising to €40m, which Barca are expected to trigger in July. A deadline for the clause runs to July 19.
Should Barca take up the option, Gremio say Arthur will stay until January 2019 on-loan before moving to Europe. They have insisted the midfielder must see out the championship in Brazil before leaving.
Arthur was likened to Barca captain Andres Iniesta by former Brazil coach Luiz Felipe Scolari last week.
It is always risky signing a player from a foreign link but let us hope that Arthur lives up to his potential and becomes a world class player.
The transition from the Brazilian league to La Liga will be tough. He has the talent though.
Most of the players from Brazil have had success in Europe over the recent years. It is a risky investment but could prove to be a bargain, going by the inflated transfer fees.
Promising young player. We hopefully might see him at the World Cup if he gets a call up for Brazil.
