[BOXING/MMA] 7 Fights That You Should Watch Before and After Mayweather vs McGregor

I've given my take on Floyd vs Conor and why it would be good for boxing - How Mayweather vs McGregor can actually be good for boxing. I've also realized that the fight is good for MMA too.

McGregor told UFC president Dana White that he wants to defend his UFC lightweight champion after fighting Floyd Mayweather and I think the fight with Floyd will give Conor a decades worth of experience and this will make McGregor a much better MMA fighter.

Based on entertainment significantly outweighing competition in this fight, I feel it's necessary for people to also recognize the other fighters that have dedicated their life to their chosen craft so I've added 7 major fights happening before/after the money fight.

Before

1. Andre Ward vs Sergey Kovalev II (Boxing)

This is going to be a very personal fight as Ward won the first fight and many believe the decision was controversial which only made sense for a rematch. Kovalev dropped Ward in the first fight but failed to complete the job and left it to the judges. Leading up to this fight, both fighters seem extremely focused and feel the need to make a statement in the fight so they win without any controversy.

2. Rigondeaux vs Flores (Boxing)

Rigondeaux is one of my favorite fighters as he displays an unorthodox style of a southpaw defensive fighter. He is believed to be one of the most ducked boxers right now and he is going up against Moises Flores, an undefeated fighter with 26 wins and 17 KOs.

3. Adrien Broner vs Mikey Garcia at 140 pounds (Boxing)

This will be a very competitive matchup as Garcia is an undefeated knockout boxer and Broner is undefeated at 140 pounds. Advantages and disadvantages are in question for both boxers as they are not fighting in their current weight classes. Broner fights at 147 pounds while Garcia fights at 135 so there asterisk next determining factors of the fight such as speed and power.

4. Jon Jones fights Daniel Cormier at UFC 214 (MMA)

The best UFC light heavyweight of all time goes against the current UFC champion. Despite Jones winning quite significantly in the first fight, he hasn't fought in a long time due to errors outside of the ring and failing a drug test so everyone wants to know if he will be the same Jones that has been dominating the competition.

5. Demian Maia vs Tyron Woodley at UFC 214 (MMA)

A skilled Jiu Jitsu fighter vs a strong wrestler. Demian Maia may be the most one dimensional fighter on the UFC rankings but his Jiu Jitsu is without doubt the best in MMA resulting in fighters being forced to fight in an uncomfortable way. Tyron on the other hand is known for his physical traits and has a very strong wrestling base. This fight will be very interesting as Tyron surprisingly fights going backwards and carries a lot of punching power whilst Maia comes towards you and slip punches to get a takedown.

6. McGregor To Defend UFC champion in 2017 (MMA)

The first name that comes to mind is Khabib Nurmagomedov. He is a combat sambo specialist undefeated in MMA at 24 - 0 and having a balanced fight outcome (8 TKOS/KO, 8 Submissions/8 Decisions). His grappling ability is beyond normal as he is able to literally rag doll grown men that have been preparing months for it. McGregor is without doubt the best and accurate striker in the lightweight division and this will cause problems when Khabib tries to engage in a clinch or takedown.

7. Canelo will fight GGG in September (Boxing)

Very interesting fight between 2 big hitters and it's hard for someone to say who the clear winner will be as they both usually win by a landslide and have more than 30 knockouts each. Canelo's only lost was to Floyd Mayweather and this lost is believed to make him the fighter he is today. GGG has been dominating fighters up to his last fight against Danny Jacobs which some believed GGG lost or won a fight that could've went either way.
