Astronomical First Half--A Tale of the MLB (Part 1)

Major League Baseball (MLB) just finished up its first half of the 162 game season. And my Houston Astros are the best time in the American league and half a game behind the Dodgers for MLB's best record!

This is the best Astros team in franchise history (and this saying alot!) And this is not my own opinion but fact.

The Astros are at 60-29 for the first time in franchise history!

The Astros have accomplished this incredible feat due our entire lineup. There is not one player who does not deserve to be recognized for their contribution.

In this first post I want to look at the leaders of this team. (All of these men were selected to be All-Stars this season. And by the way the Home Run Derby was yesterday... I hope y'all tuned in)

I. Jose Altuve

Jose is the most versatile second baseman the MLB has seen in many years. He is the first player since Ichiro Suzuki to get 200+ hits three straight years and he is leading the American League with 116 (one behind leader Charlie Blackmon).

On top of this, he is leading the entire Major Leagues in batting average. He is posting a .347!!! The man is a one man wrecking ball.

But he isn't the only one carrying the load offensively. We turn next to outfielder George Springer

II. George Springer

George struggled in his first couple seasons with injuries. (We are going to knock on wood for him--a baseball thing to counter act evil forces in the baseball world For those who don't know)

This year he is killing it in the leadoff position in the lineup. He is second in homeruns only to Yankee' s rookie Aaron Judge. Springer has 27 home runs... this is the most for a leadoff hitter before the All-Star game in baseball history!!!

Springer is a home run dinger from another planet. He is making the team more confident in their run production and overall team chemistry!

Not only are the Astros sporting these two incredible hitters but to end of trio we have arguably the best Shortstop in the Major!

III. Carlos Correa

Correa is the top of the list for the best Shortstop in MLB. He leads all Shortstops in hits (103), home runs (20), runs scored (62), batting average (.325) and on-base percentage (.402)! In short he is killing it for the team offensively.

I remember when the Astros drafted him as a 19-year old kid over a local Texas pitching prospect Mark Appel. Most people, sadly including myself, were angry at the organization. Let's just say no one is having any regrets about this young man.

The trio was voted by MLB as the best hitting in the entire Major leagues. These three men are the young cornerstone of this team which is building a franchise that will be great for years!
