NFL Free Agency: Kirk Cousins

in #sports7 years ago

As a Vikings fan, I have to say I'm conflicted about the signing of Kirk Cousins. Part of me still longs to see Teddy Bridgewater start for the team again and lead them to the championship that seemed so realistic for him just a couple years ago. But after going through 15 years of QB carouseling since Daunte Culpepper left the purple, I'm relieved to have some stability at the most important position in sports.

Cousins may not be worth all of the ridiculous amount of money he's receiving, but that's just the state of the position at the moment. Matt Stafford got paid like the best QB in football for maybe being top 10 at position, and now Cousins has taken that distinction a year later. Overall, if you're going to be competitive in the NFL for a long period of time, having a solid QB locked up is the way to go.

Vikings make a power move by getting a QB with as much quality as the rest of their roster, and now have to be considered as likely to win the SB as any other team.
