Crikey, what a day that was?! @happyaslarry did pick up a place with The Road Home, but one place as they say, is never enough. Especially when you’re on a win only trixie in the first place. Meanwhile none of my three made the frame and that, along with an abundance of big priced winners yesterday, has convinced me that a change of tact is in order for the remaining days of this challenge.
My usual process involves picking horses according to jockey, recent form, Racing Post rating, official rating etc, all while keeping one eye on the odds of each selection. Evidently this has not seem the winners roll home with anything like the frequency I would like. And so today’s picks were made yesterday afternoon before the early prices came available. I did everything else the same only I was not guided by odds.
Subsequently I have the outsider in my first race, Grove Silver at 16/1 will carry my hopes in a contest reduced to seven runners thanks to a withdrawal. It is interesting, if this is the kind of thing that interests you, that the other two selections are both within my usual price range.
Here’s Larry:
”Keeping the theme of my brother getting married, who’s called Francis. Also my lucky four leaf clover - I’ve found many in my life, wanna see a pic?”
