Today the L.A. Rams traded their 1st round pick (23 overall) and their 6th round pick to the AFC champions and Super Bowl runner-up New England Patriots for Wide Receiver Brandon Cooks and a 4th round pick.
Honestly, this is a sign that the Rams are going all-in for this season. They have already traded for 2 pro bowlers in Marcus Peters and Aqib Talib, as well as signed all pro Ndamakong Suh. They now give quarterback Jared Goff another offensive weapon to work with, as Wide Receiver Sammy Watkins left for the Kansas City Chiefs in free agency.
As for the Patriots, i'm not too sure what they are doing. However, it is hard to question them, with a quarterback with the most Super Bowls in NFL history (Tom Brady) and Head Coach with the most Super Bowls in Bill Belichick. They have already lost Cornerback Malcolm Butler, Offensive Lineman Nate Solder and Defensive Coordinator Matt Patricia this offseason.
However, now with two first round picks, as well as 2 second round picks, there are rumors they could enter the trade market for Odell Beckham, Wide Receiver for the New York Giants. There has been talk the Giants could trade Beckham because of his off-the-field blunders, including skipping meetings to party on a boat in Miami, videos of a woman doing coke in his apartment, and consistent personal fouls on the field. But that is hearsay. Only time will tell.
All I know is that this offseason has been action packed and I can't wait for the new season!
Who do you think won the Rams/Patriots trade? Let me know in the comments!
The Rams seem to be replicating the model of the Peyton Manning Broncos when they hade their super bowl run. They're loading up enough big names they could be a serious contender this next season.
I agree. Goff is not on Manning's level, but Gurley is better than any running back denver had during that time. Cooks will easily replace watkins as the deep threat. I also see the new rams defense having a similar season. Nobody will be able to pass on them, like that "no fly zone" broncos defense, yet the rams defense could he even more of a force rushing the passer. We'll see, though.
Great news!
