[Taekwondo WTF] My passion

in #sports8 years ago (edited)

Hello,

I just wanted to share with you my lifetime “hobby” called Taekwondo WTF

tkd.jpg

It is north korean martial art, characterized by its emphasis on head-height kicks, jumping and spinning kicks, and fast kicking techniques. Taekwondo is olympic sport, but in my opinion it won’t be for long because it lost attractiveness. Kicks used to be strong and powerfull, but now it is just like fencing, you only have to touch your opponent to get a point and that’s all. But no more criticism!

I have black belt (1.DAN) and I'm a coach. Me and my friend have taekwondo school for kids. In my opinion, it is one of the best sports for development of movement skills and speed. (btw if you are living in Prague and want to start learning, contact me :-)) Taekwondo has a lot to offer, you can fight(kyorugi), practice choreographed patterns of movements either solo or in pairs(poomsae), next in line is of course breaking the boards (kyokpa), but the most important thing we teach and learn is self control.

If you are hesitating about learning new things or just want to do a sport, do not be afraid of Taekwondo, it is a beautiful sport with a lot to offer! :)

I hope you like it, and if you want to see more post about taekwondo, let me know!
Have a nice day!

TKD was one of the most useful arts i studied when younger. great for footwork and motion. not my thing now. but i have so many good memories from that time of training. Following along !

Same here. Great memories from 92-96 age 12-16. Teacher was an ass so to say. Very knowledgeable in Taekwondo but bad towards the students. I loved going to tournaments full-contact sparring WTF. Moved to US visited some schools here and was disappointed with the training. For them was more like a business no tournament not even students to do sparring. Signed up for 3 month at one school and left. Never did Taekwondo after that.
