This is the moment that all Manchester City fans have been waiting for, and it couldn’t come against a more fitting opponent. The Citizens host arch rivals Manchester United on Saturday evening, and a win over their nemesis will mathematically seal the the Premier League title for them.
However, there’s more than a little bit of disappointment surrounding the team. They travelled to Anfield on Wednesday night to play the first leg of their Champions League quarter final, and came home with their tail between their legs. They lost 3-0 to Liverpool, putting huge pressure on Pep Guardiola’s men to reverse that hefty deficit at The Etihad on Tuesday.
This could understandably see a few players rested in preparation for that return leg, but it’s also likely that the temptation to seal the title against Manchester City’s greatest rivals will prove too much and Guardiola will name a pretty strong side. Raheem Sterling is almost certain to play after only playing the second half against Liverpool, and both John Stones and Bernardo Silva were left out in midweek too.
