Super Bowl LII Wrap Up

in #sports7 years ago

Hail to the Champion Philadelphia Eagles, what many deemed as impossible less than 2 months ago when star Quarterback Carson Wentz went down with a season ending injury became a fairy tale reality yesterday. Back up QB Nick Foles led the Eagles to a thrilling win in a high scoring run and gun spectacle for the ages with a number of offensive records falling in the process.

• Total pass yards record for a Super bowl was annihilated by Tom Brady and Foles with 1,151
• Most passing yards in a post season game – 505, Tom Brady
• Most points scored by a losing team – 33 Patriots

In a game littered with offensive highlights it was a defensive play however which changed the game, with Brady looking to complete what is often the inevitable for him and march the Patriots to another Lombardi trophy with a late 4th quarter winning drive, Brandon Graham broke through the Pats offensive line sacked Brady and dislodged the ball for a turnover. The Eagles subsequently completed another drive for a Field Goal and as they say the rest is history.

Foles was deservedly crowned Super Bowl MVP in what could be his last game for the Eagles (Crazy I know) and Brady was left to rue another ring that got away. Big questions face both franchises now over the off season most notably.

• Is the reported bubbling tension between Coach Belichick and star Tom Brady ready to boil over and see one move on.
• Will father time finally catch up with Brady and see his QB play take a significant down turn (Doesn’t seem likely on this years display)
• Will the moving on of several important assistant coaches from the Patriots lead to a decline in play.
• What do the Eagles do with Foles? Wentz will be back from injury next year but you have a QB who has lead you to a Super Bowl win still signed, do you trade Foles now at his highest value? What an enviable position to be in.

All these questions and more will be answered over the off-season, enjoy the break NFL fans and we will see you again next season.
