On this day, Feb. 6th 1970, the City of Buffalo was granted an NBA franchise.
The Buffalo Braves were Born.
Their first Coach was Dolph Schayes, a former NBA Player, NBA Champion
and twelve time NBA All-Star.
Their first Season in the NBA they finished in fourth place in the Atlantic
Division with a 22-60 record.
The Braves played in Buffalo from 1970 to 1978. At which time they then
moved to San Diego and were renamed the San Diego Clippers. In 1984
they moved once more, this time to Los Angeles and are still there and
are still called the Clippers.
While still in Buffalo the Team had some famous and future NBA
Players, like : Bob MaCadoo, Randy Smith, Ernie DiGregorio and
of course Moses Malone.
That same year the the NBA granted Portland and Cleveland
their own NBA franchises.
