A skinny 130 pound Nate Velazquez and I, a chunky 180 pound Adam Cummings would catch rides from our dad’s to the Y a couple times a week. We were a couple of 13 year olds, a summer out from high school who wanted to make a statement walking into our respective new stomping grounds that upcoming September. We spent most of our time in the fitness area, sort of playing with the machines, not really having a clue what we were doing. I still remember the first time we finally built up the courage to enter the weight room. As we walked in, we were instantly immersed with the sights, scents, and sounds; now common place, of the world that would quickly become our second home.
As the smell of rusting iron and sweat saturated benches filled our nasal cavities, the sounds of clanking metal, grunting brutes, and words of encouragement entered our ears, and the sight of plates and bars being pressed, squatted and curled over and over, we knew we had walked into something life changing. We had found our utopia. Fitness quickly became the foundation to our lives that summer, but more importantly it became the foundation to our friendship. No matter what was going on in life, no matter where we were, what we were doing, we always found commonplace in our love of fitness.
That love of fitness and the insatiable thirst for success in everything we do led us to start our very own website for people just like us. We wanted to bring athletes of all backgrounds, who started off just like us, under one roof, where they can shop for the gear they want and need, which helps them create their own identity in and out of the gym. We did not want to make just another website that sells stuff to people; we wanted to create an all-encompassing experience that the consumer athlete has never witnessed before.
We have three goals that we aim to achieve through SteelandFitness.com. Our first goal was to provide quality fitness products from top notch manufactures to our fitness family. Secondly, we wanted to create a hassle free website, where shopping for the gear you need was just as enjoyable as wearing it to the gym for the first time. Our third and most important goal was to be able to share our love of all things fitness with the world.
We welcome the struggle and the pain. In life there are no shortcuts; always be prepared. Take your vitamins, drink your protein, eat your veggies, and always have a spare training shirt or pair of shorts. We are SteelandFitness.com and we will always have your back.
