New record for Alexis Sanchez as Chile draw with Germany in Confederations Cup

The Chilean international footballer becomes the record leading goalscorer for his country by scoring after just 6 minutes against Germany.

Sanchez was glad to be back playing after missing out the first game against Cameroon with an injury he picked up in training. And it didn't take him long to show why he is in my opinion one of the top 3 players in the world!

The first goal came after a clearance mistake by the German defender Mustafi which led to a a clever one-two with Vidal. Sanchez was then able to run towards goal and poke home the ball in the bottom left corner of the net.

Leading up to the goal there was a lot of controversy afterwards when Mustafi had clearly taken out Vidal from behind. It was a clear red card offence but somehow he escaped a carding.

The Germans were the poorer side in the first half but just before half time they equalised by briefly beating the Chilean pressing game. A nice cross from Hector on the left side was met by Stindl who had a relatively easy tap in.

Overall in the 1st half Chile pressed Germany well and deserved their first goal. Only through a lapse of concentration and a smart break from the Germans where they able to equalize.

The second half really became more of a tactical affair with the intensity dropping and some players beginning to look tired.

Chile stay top of their group over Germany on goal difference but they will only need a draw against Australia on Sunday to progress through to the semi-finals. Similarly if Germany don't lose against Cameroon then they would also qualify from the group.

Very good player. Arsenal should hold on to him.

I think they will try everything to, if they lose him this summer then no champions league and no Sanchez is about as bad as it gets!

I agree

World class player. Will he join Manchester City?

Well he's out of the Champions league, nearly 30 maybe he should. But I would like to see him 1 more season at Arsenal and concentrate on just trying to win Premier League, then if not he's gotta go.

time to celebrate cheers

Yeh, looking like the team to beat in my opinion!

good post loved the game :)

Yeh a draw keeps the next fixtures interesting as anyone can potentially go through.

Oh no! Evaaaade!!! Crouch!!

Sanchez is a wonderful player, I have always be a fan and wanted him in my club. What a genius, Arsenal better give him his demands before they lost another world star...

Yeh I won't blame him if he does go as he has always given 100% and really any club in the world would want him!

you are right bro...

Sanchez seems to get better each season.

If Wenger strengthens the side he may stay, but it's looking doubtful as a good performance at the Confederations Cup will put him in the shop window.

Other clubs are now circling like vultures eager to sign him up.

Yeh it's true! He's simply too good not to be playing in the Champions League!

You're right, no idea why Barcelona sold him as he has improved since he left.

If you get time, let me know what you think of my World Cup best 11 on my blog, would Sanchez get into your best ever World cup 11 team?

Cheers!

Yeh nice blog added a couple of players but it's incredibly tough especially then having to take some people out for formations.

Thanks for checking it out, I'll go and see who would be in your team.

I still regret that barca decided to sell him....

Yeh how much did they actually sell him for back then?

On 10 July 2014, Sánchez signed for Arsenal on a long-term contract for a transfer fee of £ 31.7 million

Wow that was even a lot then but it will be at the least double that now.
