Cavs trade deadline Deals (WAS IT ENOUGH)

in #sports7 years ago

5 years ago, we would never have seen these names Derrick Rose and Dwayne Wade being traded out of Cleveland. But age eventually catches up with all of us, and they are both shells of their former selves. When I was watching Houston vs Cleveland, during the blowout, one announcer said they should gut the roster, and trade the old guys. That is exactly what happened, and they will be a way better team. The younger guys will be hungrier, and give them the effort they need. They also, got rid of last years man of the people Dilly Dilly. It only took a combination of a first round pick with Isaiah Thomas to move him.

Even with all the moves, I don't think it is enough. They have not addressed what I think is their biggest problem. Tristan Thompson, he is one of their biggest problems, can't shoot, can't dribble, can't jump, and the defense does not have to guard him at all. He does not bring a inside presences at all. Especially with Love out for the forcible future, they have no post players, and who is going to rebound the ball.

When I saw this deal I was absolutely blown away but in some ways not shocked at all. I don't really care about the why and how and if Lebron had anything to do with it. I'm thinking in terms of the fan base and the brand. Reality is, Lebron is the brand and nothing else really matters. In what league can you basically move your entire roster and still be considered a competitor? The NBA. Basketball is a sport of few people and the reality they have the smallest teams of any major sports league. If you are able to set yourself up with a few superstar players then you are going to be in a good spot. Don't get me wrong, having a strong bench is important but this sport is dominated by a few rather than the whole. In every other major league you can have superstars but if you don't have a solid group as a team then you are not going to win. Look at the Edmonton Oilers, my favourite hockey team. They have the best player in the world in Connor McDavid and they struggle every night because the rest of the team is not strong enough. Take a look at NFL teams. Many have top tier superstars and barely get to the .500 mark in wins. Just as AJ Green or Matthew Stafford. In basketball you can be dominant with a star like Lebron and a few supporting cast guys. Do they even sell jerseys for any other players in Cleveland? I'm guessing not so much. haha

I read somewhere that they moved Isaiah, because he called out Lebron on his leadership. He is so right, and lebron gets him traded. I saw him say our president was a tyrant, but he should look in the mirror.

I think this is going to be LeBron's biggest challenge by far during his NBA Finals run to keep the streak going this year. He essentially has a brand new team now and just two months to get everyone integrated into what he wants to do before the NBA Playoffs begin. That combined with the Boston Celtics being one of the bigger Eastern Conference roadblocks he's faced in the long while; he will certainly have his work cut out for him. I think the Celtics' pickup of Greg Monroe as well has been fairly under the radar, but potentially impactful as well. The rest of this NBA season with the Eastern Conference will certainly be very compelling and then the drama will shift to whether LeBron decides to return to the Cavs for next season. The NBA is never boring!

I think it's not just an old thing or the passing of years @bigram13.

When Lebron aged? Will they send him to the Heat again? I don't think so ... The problem is that everyone wants to win but not learn. The warriors have realized that, they are also going to change the whole template?

The Cavs are not for big things this season, it is an unresolvable truth. And neither the Warrios. Maybe Houston can do something else, as long as The Beard is still inspired.

You will see that in less than a year there will be a new restructuring in the Cavs and when that happens, it will be the youth of the Lakers or Indiana who will join the ranks of Cleveand.

Ya the western conference might be the championship.

True, they all think they have arrived

I agree with you tristan thompson is a shit for short.. and he is even payed over price for his ability.. to bad we cant see wade and lebron got a new championship ogether.. for this trade i think the cavs won. they get clarkson and lance jr both are young and have a high future. they stilk have many shooters like jr, korver and love.. crowder does not fit in the team he didn't even have the energy he had like in boston.. shumpert is a trash.. i felt bad for channing but cavs needs new legs.. It still suffering from his injury not his usual self yet. now im a jazz fun cause where ever D rose go i go hahahaha :D

I think Thompson is trash too but he used to be good before he dated a Kardashian. Too bad they couldnt have moved him for Deandre Jordan.

It's called kardashian curse. It drains all your power. Hahahah :D

Ya that reggie ........... whats his last name?

Totally motivational post...
I like ur post sir

I am thrilled with your post. a good post I am motivated with your posts @bigram13

it makes me just want to grab the world by the horns and pull it down. I live in a van down by the river!

One thing is sure for every living creature and that is ageing. No matter how good you are today you might loose all your form tomorrow. What makes a great team is the ability to live in the now and take decision and not living in the past.

Nice updete

me gusto tu publicacion te voy a seguir si me sigues.

I agree TT needs to go, but his contract is a problem. Nobody else is willing to take that cap hit for what little production he gives. I have a quick breakdown of the trades as well is anyone is interested. https://steemit.com/sports/@jaymesbawned/cleveland-cavaliers-trade-deadline-insanity

Terrible, not as bad as Gilbert arenas though

I think that James will leave to LA, and Cavs just started rebuilding

I just don't know if he will leave the east.

I was blown away at ho many guys got traded from Cleveland yesterday. I would have not thought in a million years Wade, Rose, and Thomas get the boot from a star studded team. Now I see the Cavs are going to build a young team. Do you think Lebron leaves at the end of the season?

Ya, but when they are old, and only one ball to go around. You need to get role players

No I agree. I just hadn't realized the star studded team they had on paper. Obviously they are looking for fresh legs and add young teammates so Lebron can help mold and improve the team.

Rose looked like a shell of himself. I don't ever want to see him play again. It is ruining what I remember of him.

Was it as bad as Micheal Jordan out of retirement with the Wizards?

I think the Cavs made good moves because they got younger and they will now have a fresh start in terms of player relations being that they seemed to be getting along terribly. Plus some of the players they got will be around even if Lebron leaves. These guys along with that #1 pick from Brooklyn could allow them to have a decent team moving forward, unlike in 2010 when he left them high and dry.

Ya, agreed. It is crazy how Lebron is holding them hostage. Why not just say I am in or out. Westbrook did.

I kinda get the feeling Dan Gilbert almost hopes he leaves so he can have control of his team back.

Well Dan Gilbert shouldn't have wanted him back. He should have learned after "the decision" that Lebron only wants to be a team(franchise) player for the CAVS when he wants to. I wouldn't be shocked to see Lebron in a Lakers uniform next year.

Gilbert did get a title out of it though, and those were some rough years after Lebron left. Thats not to say Lebron hasnt been a huge pain in the ass. I wouldnt be surprised to see Lebron goes to the Lakers but personally I think hes gonna go to Houston with CP3 and Harden being that hes such a front runner. If he does go to the Lakers hes gonna make sure a big time star comes with him. I just hope its not PG.

Yeah true he did get at least one championship title for his team. It is pretty much known that Lebron is the one running the show in Cleveland. Wow really i didn't even think about Lebron going to Houston. That team would be unstoppable! Idk I'm just thinking the Lakers would rather get a superstar then wait to mold one themselves, just my thoughts. Who is PG?

Lebron would rather have the media and attention speculating his next move. The more attention he get the more endorsements and media coverage increases his salary in my eyes.

This trade makes them better offensively, however you are correct in your assessment on Tristan Thompson. What the Cavs need now is a big who can defend and rebound the guy to keep an eye on in this situation is Larry Nance, as he can be the X-factor for them.

Very interesting deals but I don't think it makes one difference for this season. Best scenario for Cavs after the deals is that the new team gels in time for the playoffs and makes a run to the Finals where they fall against the Warriors. Maybe the Rockets have something to say about it. Either way Cleveland's best case scenario is to make it to the Finals. But these upgrades aren't enough to beat the best in the west. It does however, set the Cavs up much better for the future. LeBron could possibly be gone again in free agency this off-season and the Cavs were able to hang on to their 1st Round pick which will be very valuable this off-season. They are now much better prepared should LeBron depart. The moves make it interesting but ultimately I don't think it helps the Cavs chances much for this season.
