Stan Collymore ends up looking silly after badly timed Wayne Rooney tweet

in #sports7 years ago

Eyebrows were raised when Ronald Koeman agreed to re-sign Wayne Rooney for Everton earlier this summer.

The move made perfect sense for Rooney, who had the opportunity to return to his beloved boyhood club and continue earning a very good wage, but did it make sense for the Toffees?

The 31-year-old’s final few seasons with Manchester United were largely disappointing. The forward often flattered to deceive and it became increasingly obvious last season that his time at the very highest level was coming to an end.

Rooney, however, felt he was still capable of scoring plenty of goals in the Premier League.

Aware that he’d be spending more time on the subs’ bench if he opted to stay at Old Trafford, the England captain decided it was in his best interests to end his 13-year spell with United.

At Goodison Park this afternoon was the former Premier League striker-turned-'Journaliste' Stan Collymore. He was far from impressed with Rooney’s second Premier League debut for Everton and tweeted: “Rooney.

Brain is willing, legs just can’t carry the lad into dangerous areas anymore. Working his socks off, just too easy to tag now.”
