Barcelona makes Marco Verratti the main target in the summer transfer market in 2017. Spanish giants club was reported to disburse funds 100 million euros (Rp 1.52 billion) to recruit the players.
However, PSG rejected Barcelona's offer. Al-Khelaifi insists he will not sell Marco Verratti to any team because of his ambition to build a competitive squad to dominate European competition.
Besides being a matter of prestige, PSG also has another intent to defend Marco Verratti. In Campli hinted that the majority shareholders of the club will depose Al-Khelaifi if his client is docked to Barcelona.
"PSG wants to build a competitive team to become a champion in Europe, and not only to gain glory in the domestic competition, there is a lot of coverage about PSG's target, but no star players have landed so far," Di Campli said.
"They refuse to sell Verratti for 100 million euros just because of the issue of self-esteem.You know what Al-Khelaifi said to me? He said he will never sell Verrati because he is building a championship team," said Di Campli.
"Al-Khelaifi said his position would be threatened if it sold Verratti, those in Doha would not forgive Al-Khelaifi if it happened," Di Campli said.
Marco Verratti's contract with PSG will end in June 2021. In addition to Barcelona, Juventus are also reportedly eyeing the former Pescara player's signature.
