Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has taken a dig at Jose Mourinho‘s Manchester United by claiming Tottenham and Chelsea play a better brand of football. City extended their lead at the top of the table to 11 points with a 2-1 win at Old Trafford last week and the two teams clashed in the tunnel afterwards with Mourinho’s men claiming the away side were ‘overzealous’ in their celebrations. Guardiola’s men surpassed Arsenal’s record of winning 14 matches in a row with a 4-0 win against Swansea on Wednesday and can extend the run with a victory against Tottenham on Saturday.
And Guardiola couldn’t resist a sly dig at his old foe Mourinho by claiming that Spurs and Chelsea play a better brand of football.
‘Tottenham, with Chelsea, is the best team in the way to play football,’ said Guardiola. ‘They don’t expect the other ones, they want to make their own game. It is another amazing test for us. ‘It is every three days, after Tottenham it is Leicester in the Carabao Cup, so there is not too much time to recover. ‘But we are ready to face them and try to keep that level we have shown in the last period.’
