With the onset of the season of skiing, many people think about how to get yourself quality equipment. To skiing was safe and most comfortable, you need to correctly choose their size. On sale there are mountain skis for beginners and those who have less than one year of skiing experience for athletes, as well as for professionals (such equipment is the most expensive). All of them have different lengths, maneuverability at corners, elasticity, rigidity. By classes of riding they are divided into:
Universal, designed for skating on unprepared routes;
Karting, designed for skating on the prepared mountain slopes;
for large sports (freestyle, slalom-giant, cross, slalom and so on).
Consider weight and height
Alpine skiers can use several rostovok. The choice will depend on the level of ownership of the technique, the complexity of the slope, the model of recommended skis. Usually they try to use the generally accepted at the World Cup rallies: 165 cm for men and 155 cm for women. Men who have a height of 160-190 cm and weight 60-100 kg are recommended for short turns of the ski, 165 cm in length, for medium, as well as large turns, 170-175 cm. For women with a height of 150-180 cm and weight of 40-80 kg are recommended for short turns of a ski in length of 155 sm, and for average and big turns - 165 sm.
Before buying a ski, it is better to rent the necessary equipment first, and "cheat" yourself in it. Such an opportunity is good in almost any city.
Plus weight: this is the insurance against unnecessary purchases (if the holes do not fit), and the opportunity to try different models in a "combat" environment, etc.
Since women in skiing adhere to a quiet pace, they can choose models 10-15 cm less than their height. For this, you need to measure the height and take away about 15 cm from it. Female models differ in bright patterns and different colors. The length of children's skis is chosen as follows: from growth to take 5-10 cm. People with large masses and high growth should choose elastic models that are 7-12 cm higher than their growth. But low-weight people with average weight can recommend thin and flexible skiing. Rostov can be selected and adhering to such rules:
- when selecting universal skis take away from the growth of 10 cm;
- when choosing freeride skis add to the height of 10 cm;
- when selecting carving skis take away from the growth of 5-20 cm (depending on the type of slope).
We select sticks and fastening
Take in the store the first liked sticks and rest them on the floor. If a right angle is obtained between the forearm and the elbow, then the sticks are suitable for your growth. With regard to fastening, it should be easily detached if an unforeseen situation arises, and also ensure the grip of the boot. Therefore, it is recommended to pick up skis and mount one firm. All fasteners are designed for a certain load. Usually it is installed right in the store. This takes into account the weight of the skier, the level of skiing, the place of riding, as well as the frequency of falls. If the skier skates well, then it is better to do a load when descending in corners, than, for example, for a beginner. The upper reinforcement of the fastenings should also be larger. If the skier has a lot of weight, then the pressure will be transferred to the mount, in this case, the effort should be set to 15-30 kg less than the weight of the rider.
Ornie skis with a waist wider than 70 cm have other fastenings - with wide stops. It is not difficult to find shoes for any fastening. On sale there are boots-transformers. They fix their foot motionlessly while riding. When you remove the lock, you can walk in them. As for the manufacturers of mountain skis, today there are many well-known brands that have proved themselves well: K2, HEAD, NORDICA,, SALOMON, FISCHER, NORDICA VÖLKL, ELAN, DYNASTAR and others. For skiing on loose snow, long and wide skis are recommended, which will not fall into the snow.
In general it is OK, but I can not agree with sentence:
It is too general approach. 165cm in length is mainly used in slalom skis. So if we talk about racing skis, for long turns length of skis should be higher - in example I am 187cm tall and I have GS skis of 183cm and they are too short for me - they should be about 190cm.
On the other hand, as you wrote in your article, there are more classes of skis than only racing ones. As you named it "universal" I suppose you thought about All Mountain skis. This is a very nice group of skis designed to ski in different conditions - from icy and well prepared slopes up to loose and wet unprepared ones after snowfall and several hours of skiing... All Mountain skis are longer than these designed for slalom - they may have about 175cm and are very flexible in terms of radius of the turns - you may ski with very tight short turns or with long and ones at high speed.
To describe each type of skis a short article is not appropriate approach. I think you should focus on one type of skis in one article to make it right.
