Welcome to my weekly instalment of Dai’s Super 6 (powered by Dai's Datasheets). 6 games across all of Europe that I believe should be on every betting slip this weekend. I delve deep into 22 separate European football leagues weekly and pick out the best performers to give you the best chance of a return on your investment. For more information on how I do this, and to subscribe and receive up to date statistics weekly in Microsoft Excel format for over 400 football teams, please feel free to check out my website at www.daiharris.com. I dig deeper into the rationale behind each prediction below.
English Premiership - Manchester United v Burnley
Prediction: Manchester United Win @ 1/4
It's 2nd v 7th in the league, with both teams coming into this encounter having dropped points last weekend. Manchester United currently have the second best win success rate in the league this season (68.42%), second to only their immediate neighbours Manchester City. Old Trafford is fast turning into the fortress it once was, with 8 wins and a single loss there to date. Manchester United won't want to lose any further ground on league leaders Manchester City, hence why I believe this is a strong bet, worthy of consideration.
English Premiership - Liverpool v Swansea
Prediction: Liverpool Win @ 2/11
Liverpool come into this game off the back of 3 consecutive draws and in desparate need of a win to maintain their push on a Champions League qualifying spot. What better opposition to play than bottom of the table Swansea City? Swansea have only won 3 games this season, once away, and come into this game with a 63.16% loss rate. With the prolific scoring on show by Liverpool's attack of late, I can't see this being anything other than 3 points for the red men come boxing day.
Scottish Premiership - Dundee v Celtic
Prediction: Celtic Win @ 1/4
Celtic have one of the best win rates across all of Europe (70%). They've only lost 1 game in the league this season, a 4-0 away loss to Hearts, and have a fantastic record under manager Brendan Rogers. In comparison, Dundee have won only 25% of games this season and are struggling at the foot of the table in 10th position. This game should be a straight forward away win, on both recent and historic performance, and I personally can't see it ending any other way.
English League 1 - Wigan v Shrewsbury
Prediction: Both Teams to Score @ 6/5
Both Wigan and Shrewsbury have poor records in this market (36.36% and 45.45%) and neither have been involved in a game where both teams have scored over the past 14 days. It is for this reason alone that I am predicting this outcome. Looking at the stats, this is a risky prediction. However, I feel both teams are long overdue an outcome in the BTTS market and i'm willing to bet that a relaxing Christmas day may lead to some relaxed defences come boxing day.
English Premiership - Newcastle v Manchester City
Prediction: Over 2.5 Goals Scored @ 4/9
Manchester City have seen more than 2.5 goals scored in 78.95% of their games this season. They are scoring 3.16 average goals per game, while conceding 0.63 average goals per game. In contrast, Newcastle have seen more than 2.5 goals scored in 47.47% of their games, scoring a goal per game on average and conceding on average 1.53 goals per game. I can see Newcastle breaching Manchester City's defence at least once, with Manchester City having enough fire power to win the game (making over 2.5 goals scored the best market to place a bet on for this fixture).
Scottish Premiership - Rangers v Motherwell
Prediction: Rangers Win @ 2/5
I'm throwing all stats out of the window for this fixture and predicting a Rangers win. They come into the game off the back of 2 losses, and in real need of 3 points to re-ignite their season. They currently sit in third place in the league, 3 points above Hibernian and 3 behind Aberdeen. With fans seeing them as contenders to Celtic's throne, they'll want (and need) to return to winning ways ASAP.
