A few years ago, I decided that I was finally going to take the proverbial plunge, and finally pursue something I had always wanted to do. I did the research, and quickly found a number of kendo dojos, and even one really close to where I worked.
I went and tried a lesson, and joined shortly thereafter, and have been hooked ever since.
Sadly other commitments have taken more of my focus and I haven't trained in a few years now, however, the urge and desire is always there. As are some of the lessons I learned about myself through kendo.
The first lesson I learned is actually the simplest.
If you want to do something positive, stop finding excuses
Do the research, manage your risks, and take the plunge. You'll benefit from it either way, even if you decide in the end it wasn't really something that you enjoyed. You'll never wonder about it and you'll likely have met some good people, learned some new things and opened your horizons.
