A Rant About Recent Behavior From Wenger

in #sport7 years ago

Once again, yesterday, we saw the worst side of Wenger. Something we have seen throughout many years. Something we almost have gotten used to. If you watched both Arsenal matches this week, you could have seen it twice in a week! He is acting as he is the victim of some mega troll. Yes, the penalty was a 50/50, and by many referees, it wouldn't have been a penalty in 9/10 situations, but it was yesterday. If it was or not was is just not the most important part. It's Wengers reaction to it. During the match, as well as post-match. For those who didn't watch the match, Wenger complaint about the penalty Chelsea was given for many minutes, and post-match he continued his rant at the referees that started 20 years ago. The main issue in this consistent drama is the effect it has on the players. In this role of self-pity Wenger likes to be in, he affects the players in a very negative way. Having a manager constantly blaming someone else for his own flaws is destroying, not only himself but his team as well. As a manager, leader, chef, etc, you are hired to take control of the situation, because they thought you were the best of many candidates to do so. Of course, in the recent years, we have all come to witness, that he and the club have failed to do so. Blaming someone else, in this case, the referees, for your own mistakes, is a sign of weakness and a sign that you have given up. That you simply don't know what to do anymore. You have lost your creativity, your ability to lead, and your sense of when and who to blame. If you are lost, I can inform you that nothing good comes out of being/acting as the victim. When acting as the victim you're indirectly saying that you can't do a damn thing, and nothing is in your control. This, of course, has an effect on the team. Like a little kid when he observes his dad, he starts to act like him. Instead of constantly blaming the ref, why not take control, or at least admit that you have no control of the situation, deal with it, and move on. Admitting that you have no control, and then motivating the players instead of blaming the referees should be the way to lead, but still, he does the opposite.

What do you think of Wenger?

Sort:

Wenger and Sir Alex always rant at the referees. Now only he remains in the PL. He should see it in TV and watch how ridiculous his behaviour is.

Totally agree.

Ok ok, it's true that Wenger tends to rant and complain about referrees a tad too much, but it's not only him. Mourinho can be ten times worse, and what I like about Wenger is that he will defend his players no matter what (not like... hum... Mourinho for example who enjoyrs targeting and humiliating some of his players - to "motivate" them probably). I like Wenger. I wish he was more aggressive on the transfer market and sign big names, which is probably why he falls short every season. Still, a legendary manager.

Mourinho is trolling them and only says it to annoy or to make a point, to put pressure. Wenger says it because he thinks it. Like Arsenal49 said, in his own head he thinks he's the victim .
Mourinho is 10x the manager Wenger is . period

Mourinho is smarter than Wenger as we speak, and has always been, but Wenger loves football. Mourinho just loves to win.

Yes, but he doesn't has to do like everyone else. Klopp, Simeone etc is the new type of managers. From the new school. Wenger, Mourinho, etc is old school. Complaining, blaming etc. Don't get me wrong. Wenger is one of the best managers ever, but his sense of when to quit is completely lost. He should have stopped after the FA cup victory a few years back. Still, I want to see how well he can do if we spend a huge amount of money.

I also think that his time has come, but you can't blame the man for trying. However, Klopp and Simeone... new managers maybe but they complain about referrees just like everyone. it's just the nature of football to complain about them.

True. The biggest difference between these three managers is Wenger is sitting down during the match, the others are standing up constantly correcting, adjusting his team.

It's not about just having a dig at referees. It's "how" you do it so that at the end of the day, your comments take up a psychological advantageous position in the head of your players. That is why they are called mind games. Mourinho bests Wenger in that regard. For Jose, even the mildest of fiascoes is an opportunity to play them.

And we all know that Jose needs currently all the mind games possible to explain/mitigate his inability to catch up with City.

Yes of course. It's what he does. Doesn't make him any less pathetic just that the context here is that he does it better than Wenger.

it's time wenger give up his position.
I support changes to arsenal.
YNWA !

Arsenal should integrate WAWA - We always walk alone.

That aside, let us all take a moment and appreciate Wenger and Conte for making last night's entertainment possible.

Only God knows how much joy the silver hair from Portugal would have sucked out of yesterday's encounter had he being in charge of any of the sides.

Haha true. It was a great match!

most coaches except Pep complain starting with Morhino, he was once a legend coach but this days he is just doing the job and no result, no wonder most players want to leave, for arsenal to come back to its glory days it need a new coach with ideas that can change their play pattern.

New coach and a new owner ;)

Marinho was once a legendary coach, I hope Arsenal will just come back very soon
