Cristiano Ronaldo is ready for combat. The Real Madrid striker recorded his name on the scoreboard twice to goalkeeper Getafe. A perfect preparation for a hard duel against Paris Saint-Germain in the second leg of the Champions League last 16.
Gareth Bale opened the El Real victory goal in the first half after striking a wild ball near the white point and before Ronaldo's break doubled the lead by aiming the ball into the corner.
The goal is the 300th in La Liga from just 286 games with Madrid. But as usual Ronaldo does not remain complacent.
We ignore Ronaldo's referee's disallowed goal but in Getafe's situation managed to minimize the position, Ronaldo scored his 301th goal with a header from close range utilizing crossing Marcelo.
The superstar is then pulled out to give him more rest time before playing in the French capital.
La Liga's 301 goal is clearly an impressive record but much more important is its top performance throughout 2018. Ronaldo has now scored 14 goals since the turn of the year and collected ten goals from the last five games.
Having started the domestic competition badly with four goals in the first half of the season, Ronaldo now has 16 goals from 21 appearances.
Madrid is now normal again. In the Champions League Ronaldo is already crazy he status of a temporary top score with 11 goals from seven games.
Two of them were born when Madrid overcame PSG 3-1 at Santiago Bernabeu last month and two additional goals to Getafe early this morning made him appear confident at the Parc des Princes.
Zinedine Zidane himself had been criticized for storing Ronaldo in an away game to Espanyol until Real sprang through Gerard Moreno's goal in injury time at RCDE Stadium.
However resting Ronaldo will only bear sweet results. Although Zidane insists El Real still has a chance La Liga champions, the reality is actually saying another.
But not in the Champions League. With Los Merengues eliminated in the Copa del Rey, success in Europe is the only hope for them to end the season with their heads held high. Madrid also had a chance to become the first team to become king of Europe three times in a row in the era of the Champions League.
Unfortunately even though Marcelo has played again, there is no sign of Luka Modric or Toni Kroos will be performing in Paris. Thus Zidane will take the option of a 4-4-2 formation with Marco Asensio and Bale (or Lucas Vazquez) occupying the wing sector. On the front lines Karim Benzema prepared so Ronaldo duet.
As usual, Madrid will wait for goals and inspiration Ronaldo in Paris. Fortunately, Ronaldo is now being crazy and this is so bad news for PSG.
