Hi fellow Battle Mages!
Today I am writing about cards that seem to be overlooked in the Diamond League but they look very good when I see them on the battlefield. Maybe this article will help you with your battles and maybe these cards will help you with your strategies.
Nightmare
The first card on this list is Nightmare. Forgotten fire horsey is a speeding menace and when played correctly it is almost impossible to hit him. On max level, his base speed is 7 and that is just amazing. When played with other speed-altering cards like Lira The Dark and Supply Runner that speed is even higher. On top of that Death Splinter has some cards that will reduce opponents' speed like Queen Of Crows or even Cursed Windeku if the ruleset is right. When you add his Phase ability into the mix it gets even more interesting.
Death Splinter also has some other cards that work quite well with Nightmare like Ravenhood Warden that will provide Protect and Inspire abilities for this monster. And in the end, let's not forget about our new legendary summoner, Astral Entity which provides Dodge ability, making him a real nightmare to hit.
Feasting Seaweed
This is one of my favorite cards and it was one of the first I ever bought right when I started playing Splinterlands. This card is not very popular but is very good, especially in the current meta. What am I talking about? Well with new reward cards came Kulu Mastermind, a monster with an Opportunity attack, the same as Deeplurker. If you add Feasting Seaweed to that duo you got yourself a pretty strong lineup, especially when Feasting Seaweed is getting more and more health with each kill. Another card that can be added to this team is Isgald Vorst, a Gladiator card that will certainly benefit from that team. The only downside is the price of the Feasting Seaweed, even if you just want to rent it. 80 DEC per day is not really a bargain.
Phantasm
This is one of those weird cards that you never see in the game but it is actually very good. You would probably rather play Cursed Windeku or Pelacor Deceiver. When you look at the stats of Phantasm it is not bad, 6 speed with a Flying ability means that it will certainly dodge some attacks and if you pair it with Astral Entity it will get Dodge ability making Phantasm even more evasive than Nightmare. When you count in Retaliate and Return Fire abilities you got yourself a good anti-melee and anti-ranged card. The only problem is the weakness of magic attacks. The reality is that Phantasm is a monster that you will play in specific rulesets but even then most mentioned cards are way cheaper than Phantasm because this little guy costs 120 USD for a max-level copy. Of course, you can rent one for a few DEC per day.
Onyx Sentinel
To be honest, I would always rather play Baakjira or Almo Cambio, but Onyx Sentinel does go under the category of overlooked cards. The only problem is its health, but if we take that aside, Onyx Sentinel is quite a card. It does have every defensive ability you could need including Shield, Void, Thorns, and Return Fire. Yes maybe Magic Reflect is missing but well, at least Void is here. If you ask me it would be good to play this guy with a Repair ability or Heal ability in the background and/or with Grandmaster Rathe as a summoner - great because of Amplify ability. Yes, it is not perfect as Almo Cambio but you can rent it for 10 DEC per day. It is a cheap option and that is how much you get on the battlefield from him. Nevertheless, it could be useful if you want to save some money. For a max-level copy, you should pay around 52 USD. That is a few bucks cheaper than Baakjira but if you ask me I would choose Baakjira before Onyx Sentinel any day.
Efreet Elder
Efreet Elder is a very interesting card because of its abilities, Phase, and Last Stand. Now it is not very strong on its own but if played right it could be quite good. So what am I talking about? If played with Conqueror Jacek, his speed will be up to six. Of course, if you are playing Jacek then you want to play other speed-altering monsters as well like Countess Sinnash and Supply Runner. Now its speed is at 8, not so bad right? With 10 health and a few armor from Arkemis the Bear or Ferox Defender. It is interesting because most of the players won't expect this in your team and Efreet Elder can take quite a few hits from your opponent. It is also very nice to play him with Djinn Inferni or Djinn Apprentice and to surprises your opponent with magic attacks.
This presents an opportune moment to strategically acquire new cards and revitalize your deck. It is essential to exercise caution, as the influx of new players can potentially lead to heightened demand and subsequent price fluctuations within the market. For those who have not yet embarked on their Splinterlands journey, now is an ideal juncture to seize the benefits of acquiring exceptional cards at special prices. I invite you to join the Splinterlands Discord community, where you can gather further insights and delve deeper into this captivating realm of gameplay.
