SplinterRents is live again, automating your rentals!

We are pleased to share with you that from this moment onwards, SplinterRents is live again!

NOTE that SplinterRents won’t work for anyone until you either register as a new user or as existing user activate your account yourself by sending “$activate [PLACEHOLDER FOR YOUR ACCOUNT NAME]” to the SplinterRents discord bot!

During the last month we have collected data and analyzed the changes we needed to make.
Once those changes were finished we have tested and finetuned our service.

Even though not everything works exactly how we want to yet, we have reached the point that we are confident our service will satisfy you as it did before and welcome you to activate it again!

During the last month, we have made a lot of changes of which most will not be visible to you as a user, since they are related to the back-end and the pricing algorithm.
Nevertheless, there are some points that we would like to highlight:

• All balances and account settings have been reset

• The default cycle time is changed to 1440 minutes (one day). The cycle time is now defined as the minimal time it waits before updating the rental price of a card since its last price update.

• The default minimum price changed to 1 DEC, which means that only cards that are valued over 1 DEC/day will be listed and/or updated if you don’t change this.

• We added an optimization to the algorithm regarding price updates which considers the 1 DEC fee.

• Using $status, you can now find the total listing fee spend for each account

• For now, SplinterRents will only work with daily rentals since this is by far the most used rental type.

• Due to the 1 DEC listing fee, it might be more profitable to combine some cards, although it can also impact potential sell price later on. We recommend everyone to think about what they want to achieve with their cards and how they can best achieve this. THIS IS NOT FINANCIAL ADVICE!.

What can you expect from the future of SplinterRents?

For now, we will start updating our information on the website and discord such as the FAQ to reflect the current situation.

Code wise, our main priority will be to monitor and improve our pricing algorithm towards the future.
Besides potential improvements and variations on the algorithm, we also have ideas on how to improve the service in general. However, these improvements need to be prioritized.
