As many of you know, the Bitcoin halving (or halvening) is coming up very soon, and Splinterlands is celebrating this milestone event in the blockchain and cryptocurrency world with a special promotion for our players!
The promotion is scheduled to start on Monday, May 4th at around 9 - 10 AM ET (13:00 - 14:00 UTC). The Bitcoin halving is expected to take place on Monday, May 11th. You can find more information about it here: https://www.buybitcoinworldwide.com/bitcoin-clock/
Halfling Alchemist
The promotion will start with the introduction of a new promo card to the game - the Halfling Alchemist! He is an Epic Neutral Monster and only 12,000 of them will be printed in total during the event and they will never be available again except on the market. Approximately 2% of them, or 240 cards, will be Gold Foil versions, and Alchemy potions will not be enabled. For comparison, this is approximately half the amount of each Untamed edition Epic card that will be printed.
For those of you who may think that 12,000 sounds like a lot, remember that it takes 46 regular or 10 gold foil cards of Epic rarity to reach max level, so that means that there will only ever be a little over 250 regular max level versions of this card, and only 24 max level gold foil versions!
The Halfling Alchemist will be a "Promo" edition card, meaning it will give a +10% DEC bonus when used in battles AND will have the same doubled DEC burn rate as other Promo edition cards (300 DEC for regular and 30,000 DEC for gold foil).
In addition to the Redemption ability (gained at level 4), he also has a new ability which will be added to the game called "Halving". Whenever an enemy is hit by, or hits a Monster with the Halving ability, their attack stat (Melee, Ranged, and/or Magic) is cut in half, rounded down.
Some additional details about the Halving ability:
- A Monster's attack can only be halved once, so if a Monster's attack has already been halved then the Halving ability will have no further effect.
- The Cleanse ability will remove the Halving effect
- Monsters with multiple attack types will have ALL of their attack stats cut in half by the Halving ability
- The Halving ability will not reduce an attack to 0, so targets with an attack of 1 will not be affected by the ability.
How Do I Get One?
Details on how to get the new Halfling Alchemist card will be released on May 3rd, one day before the event starts, so check back then for more information!
Tournaments
In addition to the new Halfling Alchemist card, we will also be running tournaments to celebrate the Halving with $2,000 of BTC prizes available to be won! The ability to link a BTC wallet address to your account will be added to the game before the promotion starts, so look out for that and be sure to link your address to be eligible to participate and receive your winnings.
The tournaments are planned to occur on May 9th, 10th, 16th, and 17th. Times are TBD so please stay tuned for further announcements about those.

The ability to link your BTC address will be added before the promotion starts.
I think that should work, since that BTC deposit address is personalized to you.
In general however you should get a BTC wallet!

However, if your goal is not to hold the BTC long-term, then Hive Engine SWAP.BTC makes a lot of sense. The downside is that you have to trust a counterparty to store your BTC. But for small amounts or for short periods of time, the risk is acceptable.

I know of no ability that drops an attack below 1 so I imagine that will apply here as well.
shield/void does drop damage from 1 to 0, so it is very good question.
It drops the damage the target takes, not the damage the attacker does. Nothing drops an attack to zero. Void/shield reduces incoming damage, not attack strength.
Good question - debuffs never reduce attacks below 1 and that will still be the case here. I'll see if we can update the post.
