Battling Since September 2021

in #splinterlands3 years ago

Getting close to half a year since I have started playing an NFT game called Splinterlands. Registering my first account on September 16, 2021. I got straight into playing and here's the beginning of my story.

The very first daily quest I had to complete was Fire. After quickly going through the Tutorial (How to Play / Practice) games, I started playing the game to be rewarded my first loot chest. Collection Power went up to 5 points after receiving a common reward card.

A few weeks later, there were changes to the rewards system and everyone in the Splinterlands community was no longer receiving Dark Energy Crystals (DEC) in Bronze League. We were forced into investing more Collection Power if we wanted to earn more DEC and cards in the Silver League. Players who stayed in Bronze League were rewarded Credits instead. I believe this was to better reward those who have made a decent investment in the game.

Naturally, the better option was to Advance into Silver League. I am currently playing in Gold League as I have invested in cards or Collection Power to be eligible for those rewards. Please keep in mind that this is not financial advice and do your own research. Writing this story from my own personal experience and for entertainment purposes.

Playing an NFT game online is very new when it comes to technology. People are introduced into the crypto world and have to learn to play before the earn to play aspect of the game can begin.

There are 15 days per season and our ranked battle ratings are reset at end of season. Usually doesn't take longer than a day to return to Gold League though. My win rate is floating around 50%. Our greatest disadvantage in entering Gold League is having cards that are not upgraded. My highest rating is currently 2789 and that's very close to Diamond League. Possible to complete daily quests without upgraded cards, but it's going to be a bumpy ride.

I can't see myself entering into Diamond League anytime soon as my win rate is simply not good enough. Also, we need at least 250k Collection Power to gain those rewards or loot chests in Diamond League. All hope is not lost though as we continue to grind every day and grow our account.

Used to play 3 accounts, but have now cut down to 2. Main account being in Gold III League and the second account sitting in Silver I League. The third account was abandoned and cards were either sold or rented out. The question now is whether to keep playing with 2 accounts or eventually start playing in Diamond League when that time comes?

One of the main reasons for abandoning the third account was saving time in playing the game. Luckily, Splinterlands allows us to rent cards to other players while we grow our account to become stronger. Also, I don't mind staying in Gold League to have a higher chance in winning a Chaos Legion pack as a reward from loot chests. Silver League is decent for new players, but Gold League feels much more rewarding today.

Still haven't joined or created a Guild yet as I am waiting to win 10k DEC or more from a loot chest. If that ever happens then I feel that would be a good time to be involved with a Guild.

I have made a fair amount of transactions on PeakMonsters to have an account tier: Defender of Monsters - 8. News has it that we are going to receive some tokens by ordering on PeakMonsters called PKM. Splinterlands are already giving us airdrops and this is a bonus to us.

Sadly, the value of our accounts have dropped since we started playing. However, we can still take advantage of the long term gains such as compounding interests and daily grind rewards. Airdrops may finish in the next few months, but we will still own all the cards to play with in our collection.

While playing the game, I sometimes watch other people talk about Splinterlands on YouTube. Interesting to be surrounded by like minded people as not everyone knows about Splinterlands yet. Even got my partner to start playing, but she couldn't get into it as much as myself. Not sure if Splinterlands is for everyone as an investment is required for earnings to be meaningful. This is not a get rich quick scheme.

People may recognise my name from playing online games such as Diablo 3 or playing the musical instrument called the clarinet. Used to play World of Warcraft and Diablo1/2. Stopped playing MMORPG's as I have spent more time with mobile app games. Splinterlands is available as a mobile app, but prefer to play it on the laptop in browser format (Google Chrome). Yes, I have played Magic the Gathering, but sold my cards a few years ago at a loss. Not as active as before, but still tweet sometimes on Twitter.

Thanks for reading. Really should be working on my back yard now even though I'm not a landscaper. =)
