Splinterlands Battle Challenge - Feral Spirit

in #splinterlands3 years ago

Hello Splinterlands fans. Our featured card for this week is pretty nostalgic since it was part of the free to use cards before Chaos Legion was released. I was able to rent one for this challenge. Let's see if I'm still able to use its ability efficiently in our lineup today.

Challenge Rules

THEME: FERAL SPIRIT

Edition: ALPHA/BETA
Rarity: COMMON
Element: LIFE
Attack: MELEE
Abilities: Sneak

Battle Ruleset

Mana Limit: 25

Standard: No modification to the standard gameplay rules and mechanics.

Lineup Strategy

Summoner: Drake of Arnak

We're using Drake to get access to our tank monster as well as for the +1 armor buff to all friendly monsters.

Tank: Djinn Chwala

This card's Torns ability will do extra damage against Melee attackers. It also has high Armor and Health perfect for a tank monster that can take several attacks while our team slowly eliminates enemy monsters positioned at the back.

Feral Spirit

We're placing our featured card on the 2nd position. Since this monster has the Sneak ability, we'll use it to our advantage and form a team with this ability.

Stitch Leech

Another Sneak monster with a slightly higher attack and health. Since this one has a higher attack, there's a chance that it can do critical hits on low health monsters.

Uraeus

Also one of our Sneak attack monsters. Since it has 1 armor, we're placing it on the second to the last position to protect our team from Sneak attacks just in case our opponent decides to use one.

Venari Crystalsmith

Last but not the least is our Tank Healer. We're going to use it's healing ability to increase our tank's chance of survival in this battle. We need our tank to last for several rounds to give our Sneak attack monsters time to eliminate our opponent's key cards placed at the back and middle of the lineup.

Our opponent decided to use a Magic attack lineup that's boosted by the chosen Summoner Obsidian. This is going to be tough match since this kind of attack ignores any armor and directly damages its target's health.

Uraeus was able to eliminate an enemy monster at the backline using its Sneak ability in Round 1. Our tank monster took a few hits but our Tank Healer was able to restore its health in time for the next round.

Feral Spirit, Djinn Chwala and Stitch Leech eliminated three enemy monsters on Round 2. Our tank monster is hanging on its 3 health at the end of this round. Hopefully Venari Crystalsmith can heal it before the two remaining enemy monsters start attacking on the next round.

Our Tank Healer restored the health of our tank monster in the nick of time before the other enemy monster threw its attack. Stitch Leech was able to eliminate the enemy Tank Healer on Round 3.

We lost our tank Djinn Chwala in Round 4. Aside from its high health, the Speed and Flying ability of the remaining enemy monster are going to be a problem since our team are missing their attacks.

We lost our featured card Feral Spirit in Round 5. The remaining enemy monster's health is still intact. Our team still failed to land an attack on this round.

It took our team several rounds before they were able to do some damage on the remaining enemy monster. Good thing Venari Crystalsmith was there to heal Stitch Leech each round which gave our team the time they needed to land enough damage to win this battle.

Conclusion

Our opponent had the upper hand in terms of attack power and since most enemy monsters were dealing Magic damage, our team's armor were useless. However, the enemy monsters placed at the backline had low health which was the edge our team needed to win this battle by using their Sneak ability. Venari Crystalsmith had a crucial role in this battle. By extending the life of our tank monster, our Sneak attack monsters were able to eliminate our opponent's damage dealers.

Did your strategy work? What will you try differently next time?

The plan of using the Sneak ability to our advantage worked perfectly since our opponent placed low health monsters at the backline. Our team was able to trim down the damage dealt by our opponent's lineup by slowly taking down low health monsters one by one.

Do you like the FERAL SPIRIT? Why or why not?

I used to like using Feral Spirit before Chaos Legion was released because Silvershield Knight was there (free to use) to boost Melee attack. But right now, it's no longer significant since Life Splinter (to me) is stronger when using a team of Ranged monsters because of the new summoner General Sloan that boosts Ranged attacks and along with Pelacor Arbalest's Double Strike ability.

Thanks for taking time in reading my post. See you on the next battle challenge. Hope you all have a great day!!!

What is Splinterlands?

Splinterlands is a digital, collectible card game built on blockchain technology. It is similar in concept to games like Magic the Gathering and Heartstone where you build up a collection of cards, which all have various different stats and abilities, and use them to battle other players in skill-based matches. By using a blockchain technology, players can buy, sell and trade their digital assets freely just as if they were physical cards, and all transactions are recorded publicly and immutably.
