Hello Splinterlands fans. Its time for another battle challenge. Let's see if our featured card for this week can help us win this battle.
Challenge Rules
THEME: CARRION SHADE
Edition: CHAOS LEGION
Rarity: COMMON
Element: DEATH
Attack: MELEE
Abilities: Flying
Battle Ruleset
Standard: No modification to the standard gameplay rules and mechanics.
Lineup Strategy
The +1 armor that this summoner adds to our team will be our key advantage in this match up. Having additional armor can prevent our team from being critically hit by Melee or Ranged attackers.
We'll use this card as our tank monster. Aside from its high health, its Thorns ability will be extremely helpful against Melee and Ranged attackers since it can return damage back when hit.
From its name we can clearly know what it does. Its Life Leech ability increases its health each time it damages an enemy Monster's health in proportion to the damage dealt. This will be our backup tank. It will probably have generated much health by the time it takes over as our tank monster.
Using this monster's Sneak ability, we can easily eliminate enemy monsters sitting at the back of our opponent's lineup.
Last but not the least in our lineup is our featured card of the week. Although it can't attack on this position, it will protect our team from Sneak attacks.

Our opponent chose Thaddius Brood from the Death Splinter as Summoner debuffing our team with -1 Magic and -1 health. We also have almost the same monsters on the battlefield.
Round 1 was quite a steady fight since no monster died in this round. Carrion Shade was able to do its job of protecting Undead Badger from a Sneak attack.
We both lost our tank monsters on Round 2 due its the Thorns ability. Life Sapper was also able to eliminate an enemy monster adding 1 health to itself using itsLife Leech ability. Our opponent has only one Ranged monster left while our team is still intact.
Life Sapper was able to eliminate the remaining enemy monster on the battlefield on Round 3 giving our team a flawless victory in this matchup.
Conclusion
The +1 armor that our chosen Summoner added to our team was the huge advantage we had in this battle. It prevented our team from receiving any critical hit while our hitters are slowly taking down enemy monsters. Life Sapper did a great job in dealing damage against the enemy tank monster and eliminating the other ones left on the battlefield.
Did your strategy work? What will you try differently next time?
Our strategy of adding +1 armor to our team worked perfectly since our team won without loosing any monster.
Do you like the CARRION SHADE? Why or why not?
I like using Carrion Shade when I need an extra body to protect our lineup from Sneak attacks. With only 1 mana, we can add a monster with 2 health to block such attacks.
I hope you had fun watching our featured battle today. Till next time folks. Have a great day!!!
What is Splinterlands?
Splinterlands is a digital, collectible card game built on blockchain technology. It is similar in concept to games like Magic the Gathering and Heartstone where you build up a collection of cards, which all have various different stats and abilities, and use them to battle other players in skill-based matches. By using a blockchain technology, players can buy, sell and trade their digital assets freely just as if they were physical cards, and all transactions are recorded publicly and immutably.
