Hey everyone,
the last couple of weeks/days have been very exciting for Splinterlands and with all the news and updates it can be difficult to keep up. So today I want to briefly summarize what are the most important things happening in Splinterlands right now from my point of view and what's about to come next.
Reward Cards
In the recent Town Hall it was confirmed that all current reward cards will go out of print once the new soulbound reward cards will go live. I wrote a post about reward cards in general and the outlook of soulbound reward cards last week and you can find it here.
We've got a bunch of new cool eye candy for those, here's one of them:
Furthermore all the commons of the first phase reward cards from Chaos Legion are officially out of print, meaning you can no longer pull them from reward chests and have to buy them from the secondary market.
Compared to last weeks screenshot prices have already gone up by roughly 100% and some cards like Jared Scar or Venator Kinjo even went up to prices like $6-$10 per BCX. They quickly came down after this as people were realizing some profits, but are still at around $2,5 which is as 2,5x compared to last week.
Remember that all current reward cards (besides the phase 1 commons) are still in print until the soulbound rewards will be released, which was announced for the end of January, but not confirmed with a set date. This means we'll have at least one season at most 2 season left to earn reward cards from play, after that the'll be gone.
Community Proposals
The team is also working on enabling the community to create proposals, which should be first put up to a vote and once passed will then be put up for the "real" vote. You can read all about here.
There's also a new proposal to boost the land survey chance, similar to how potions for packs work. You can read all about that here.
In short it proposes to pay 10k DEC or DEC-B tokens per plot to double both the chance of getting a rare, epic, legendary plot and magical / occupied plot (which will produce better resources as far as I understand).
Tournaments
There will be a maxed level gladiator ghost card tournament. I think Weirdbeard said it will be hosted this Friday (January 20th), but it is not online yet. As with previous ghost card tournaments, every player will have the same cards (in this instance maxed level gladiator cards). This is quite exciting because no player has yet maxed gladiator cards due to how long it takes to acquire these cards and with them being quite powerful this will make for a very exciting tournament.
Macro Perspective
By no means am I a technical analyst and I don't want to analyze or predict anything here, but the past week has been quite good for the broader crypto market, with bitcoin going up by almost 20%.
This always helps alt coins and their ecosystems as well and we've seen Splinterlands assets increase as well. Whether this is a short term rally and will be followed by a corrected or the start of the next bull market I don't know, but its definitely nice to see some green candles after such a long period of everything just tanking.
Summary
There's exciting stuff happening within Splinterlands as always and I personally am looking forward to the new reward cards the most, as those will hopefully bring a new incentive of playing and climbing ranks as high as possible, with new abilities and fun new gameplay.
The broader slightly more positive outlook for crypto heading into the next bull market hopefully sooner than later also brought some fresh wind and has people excited again as it showed how quickly assets can appreciate and prices go up, when sentiment is more bullish and supply scarce.

None of this is financial advice. These tips are for educational purposes only and might all fall out of date as both Splinterlands and the Crypto Market in general are subject to constant change.
