The Marvelous Magic of Magi Necrosi

This post was made as entry for Splinterlands Social Media Challenge.

Are you also a player that is reliant on healing? Are there abilities that can replace Heal and Tank Heal? What strategies do you use when Heal is not available?

In Healed Out rule set, all healing abilities are blocked making units that rely on healing less effective. This creates a unique scenario where you need to focus on supporting those units with other means. This is a battle where I showcase those abilities along with strong potential combos for Life Leech. Magi Necrosi, a Chaos Legion unit, can have his potential unlocked with the help of Lorkus and his ability to give health through Life Leech and Magi Necrosi's unique ability to Camouflage himself and not be able to be targetted by attacks until the end.

This Week's Theme is…

All healing abilities are removed from Units and Summoners.

Healed Out Rule Set can be a tricky rule set. Your units can still use abilities that gain health like Life Leech and Scavenger but not ones that restore health like Heal, Tank Heal or Triage. Lorkus is a really good summoner in this aspect as he can give Life Leech on two of your units and is not affected by this rule set.

Battle Factors

Mana: 34
Active Elements: Fire, Water, Earth, Death, Dragon

|| All healing abilities are removed from Units and Summoners.
  • Healed Out forces you to adapt and rely more on raw stats and other abilities. Life Leech and Scavenger still works in this rule as they give you health like Strengthen instead of healing your units.
  • || The Trample ability can trigger multiple times per attack if the trampled Units is killed.
  • The Stampede rule set can be very useful if you manage to land a kill with a unit with Trample since the Trample ability gets reset every kill. This wasn't as useful in this battle as I don't have units with that ability on this fight. I could've used Lorkus to give my units Trample ability but I prefer the extra defense given by Life Leech.

Battle Strat: I have two of my magic attack units gain Lorkus's Life Leech and let them survive longer. One was given to Djinn Muirat instead of Magi Necrosi in order to increase his health in case Xenith Monk falls. The other one was given to Magi Necrosi as I found out his Camouflage ability is really useful to make sure he survives till the end making him gather more health than anyone.

Battle Summary: It was an easy battle as my enemy doesn't have any protection against magic attacks. Every round, they got hit with high magic damage and eventually falls because of the consistent damage.

    Lineup and Strategy

    || All friendly Monsters have +1 Melee damage.
    || All friendly Monsters have +1 Magic damage.

Why pick this summoner: Lorkus is my favorite summoner due to how much you can use him and how many combos he can create with other units. He offers a solid combination of boosts to both melee and magic damage which makes him really good in any rule sets like Healed Out. With +1 melee and +1 magic the summoner can help your units dish out more damage quickly. The abilities he can give though are situational but useful depending on what your plan of action will be.

    || Reduced damage from Magic attacks by 50%.
    || Restores a third of the max health to this Unit's health each round.
    || When hit with a Magic damage, does half the Magic damage (rounded up) back to the attacker.

Why pick this unit: This unit has solid health and good defensive abilities like Void and Magic Reflect making it strong against magic-heavy opponents although its Heal ability becomes useless under Healed Out Rule Set. It’s a tanky option for low mana but will rely more on its Void to stay alive.

    || Magic attacks hit this Unit's armor before its Health.
    || Does double damage when attacking an enemy that is stunned.
    || Does double damage against targets that cost 10 or more mana.
    || When hit with a Magic damage, does half the Magic damage (rounded up) back to the attacker.
    || This Unit takes only 1 damage from attacks with power 5 or higher.
Why pick this unit: It is a good 2nd tank because of magic attack and abilities. Void Armor and Magic Reflect is good against potential Snipe and Knock Out ability is really good and complements with Magi Necrosi's Stun.

    || Does double damage when attacking an enemy that has no attacks or weapons training.

Why pick this unit: Magi of Chaos is good with dealing high consistent magic damage especially to those without attack due to Oppress. With decent speed and health it's not the fastest but with 4 magic damage it can hit hard. Magi of Chaos is also a neutral monster making it a flexible option is you need a quick high magic attack on your team.

Why pick this unit: Xenith Archer is a 2 mana cost unit that I added due to the excess mana. He can attack from the back making use of the positioning properly.

    || Tagets the frist enemy Unit with Ranged, Maic, or no attack that is not in the first position with Ranged or Magic attacks.
    || This Unit cannot be directly targeted for attacks unless it's in the first position.
    || Does double damage when attacking an enemy that has no attacks or weapons training.
    || When a Unit with stun hits a target, there is a 50% chance that the target will skip its next turn.
Why pick this unit: Magi Necrosi is a really good magic caster. You can add him in any team and can pull his own weight with or without the help of others. The Camouflage ability works really good with Lorkus's Life Leech as Camouflage makes this unit the last target for the attack. It buys him a lot of time to gather health and by the time he fights as the last unit, Magi Necrosi is a big tank. The other abilities are also good but I'll focus on Camouflage and Life Leech interaction for now just because I usually talk about this unit on other posts.

    Summary

In this Healed Out battle, healing units lose a big part of their value which means the focus shifts towards dealing raw damage and surviving based on abilities like Void or Magic Reflect. Lorkus as the summoner offers great offensive boosts with the +1 magic and +1 melee attacks and also increases your team's defense by mixing in Life Leech to your team. Abilities that gives your units health instead of healing them is not affected by Healed Out rule set making Lorkus's Life Leech a really good substitute to heal your tank's health during battle.
