Finding Value in Splinterlands Cards – Diemonshark

in #splinterlands8 days ago

Hi all,

Introduction

Another post in this series. Thank you for your support in the previous posts 😊

This series intends to determine if there are other aspects of cards that may contribute to increasing its value. Based on your feedback I can focus on more/other things – so feel free to tell me where you want me to go into further detail.
I include some analysis on where the cards fit in terms of strategy and a market analysis of the price of the card. Feel free to suggest what more do you want me to look into in this series, and your support is much appreciated!
In this edition I will be looking at the Diemonshark.

Gameplay Analysis

The Diemonshark is a quintessential melee tank designed to dominate the front line with its raw power and synergy-driven abilities.

Mana Cost: 8
Attack Type: Melee
Health: 8 (Level 1) to 11 (Max Level)
Speed: 3 (Level 1) to 5 (Max Level)
Melee Attack: 3 (Level 1) to 5 (Max Level)
Armor: 2 (All Levels)
Abilities:
Trample (Level 1): After destroying a target, it attacks the next monster in line.
Enrage (Level 4): Increases melee attack and speed when damaged.
Retaliate (Level 8): A chance to counterattack when hit with a melee attack.

The Diemonshark’s combination of Trample and Enrage makes it an offensive juggernaut. Its solid health and armor allow it to withstand early damage, while its abilities ensure it remains a threat throughout the battle. At max level, Retaliate adds a defensive edge, making it a high-risk, high-reward card that can dominate melee-heavy encounters.

Synergies

To maximize the Diemonshark’s potential, consider pairing it with:

Speed Buffs: Summoners like Kelya Frendul or monsters with Swiftness ensure it attacks first, increasing the likelihood of landing a critical Trample.
Healers: Cards like Merdaali Guardian or Angelic Mandarin keep it alive longer, allowing it to unleash its full potential.
Armor Repair: Support monsters like Scavo Hireling or Djinn Renova help maintain its armor, prolonging its time on the front line.
Amplify and Thorns: Combine with backline monsters that punish attackers, leveraging Retaliate to wear down melee-heavy teams.

Ruleset Performance

The Diemonshark thrives under specific battle conditions:

Trample Rule: Its Trample ability is amplified, allowing it to chain attacks and deal massive damage.
Melee Mayhem: Expands its range, letting it attack from any position while retaining its tank role.
Reverse Speed: Though its speed is moderate to high, the Enrage ability can give it an edge in this ruleset.
Heavy Hitters: Pair it with stun-capable monsters to ensure Trample procs consistently.

Market Analysis

Historical Price Movement
Regular Foil: Approximately $0.10 per BCX, making it affordable for most players.
Gold Foil: Around $2.00 per BCX, reflecting its consistent demand in competitive lineups.

Investment Potential
The Diemonshark’s versatility and strength as a tank ensure its place in many Water splinter strategies. Its modest price point, combined with its frequent use in ranked battles, suggests long-term value. For those looking to maximize DEC rewards, the Gold Foil version offers a solid return on investment.

Conclusion

The Diemonshark is a mainstay of Water splinter lineups, combining durability and offensive power to control the battlefield. Its abilities scale well with level, making it a worthwhile card to level up for both casual and competitive play.
