Hello everyone, this week is the Stone Golem challenge, which I am very excited to participate because it is one of the cards that I use the most and that has helped me the most since I started playing splinterland. Without further ado I hope you like it and it is to your liking.

Stone Golem

The Stone Golem is a monster released in the Alpha and Beta editions that belongs to the ground splinter. Its use requires a cost of 5 mana and has the following characteristics and abilities at level 1:
  • Has 1 melee attack point.
  • Has 1 speed point.
  • Has 2 shield points.
  • Has 6 life points.
  • And it has the Shield ability that reduces the damage taken from melee and ranged attacks.

My Splinteraccount

Normally I play in silver 3 but at the time of this battle I was going up in rating due to the restart of the new season. Exactly I concluded this battle with a rating of 751 which places me in bronze 1, for this I had a power of 18225 product of the rent of cards that I use to battle in silver. Clarify that all the cards I have for the battle are at level 1 so everything I tell them is taken from my experience playing with them.

The Strategy

The battle in question had a maximum available mana of 26 points, it was only allowed to play with the fire, earth and death splinters, and had the following battle rule:
  • Rise of the Commons: Only common and rare monsters may be used in battles.

The strategy to use for this game was very clear to me since I saw the allowed splinters because of the 3 available with the one that I feel most comfortable with is the ground one, I also have rented cards from this splinter that help me a lot in the day to day like the Mylor Crowling and the Wood Nymph. The alignment I use is as follows:

First of all I chose Mylor Crowling as a summoner which I have thanks to the rents and is very useful in silver 3 for its ability to grant all friendly monsters the Thorns ability at the beginning of the battle, this ability allows to inflict damage to monsters enemies that make a melee attack on ours.

In the first position, place the special guest of the party, the Stone Golem, which makes one of the best combinations I have with the Mylor Crowling, since its Shield ability allows it to reduce the damage of melee and ranged attacks, in set with Thorns provided by Mylor make this a very lethal and versatile tank that I usually place both in the first position as is this case or at the end to withstand all those attacks from enemy monsters with the sneak ability where at the same time I resist the blows enemies I am slowly killing them. Another very favorable point of the Stone Golem is its low mana cost, because with only 5 mana required to be used, it has exceptional characteristics for defense and that allow the use of it in almost any alignment unless the same rules of the game prevent it.

Followed by this and confident of the defensive capabilities of the Stone Golem I begin to mount my attack weapons, so in the second position I placed Goblin Thief, this one with 4 mana cost has 2 attack points and the sneak ability, which allows me to attack the enemy from the rear.

In the third position I placed my other attack weapon, the Sand Worm, although it has a high mana cost and low speed, it presents a good offensive power, having 5 melee attack points and the sneak ability that together with the Goblin Thief will allow me to destroy my enemy from the rear while the Stone Golem holds the first position and at the same time hurting the enemy with the Thorns ability.

In the fourth and last position I placed what would be the support of my strategy, and it is the Wood Nymph, this one with a cost of 4 mana has a very important ability that is Tank Heal, which allows to restore a portion of life of the monster in the first position, this together with the Stone Golem in the first position make a very good defensive combination since while the Stone Golem withstands the damage in the first position it is healing it, delaying the enemy considerably and giving a chance to my main attack weapons take down enemy monsters.

Round 1

image.png

Seeing already the alignment of my opponent with the fire splinter I clearly realize that the Serpentine Spy will not last 1 turn because it will die nothing more than attack thanks to the Thorns ability provided by Mylor. The main difficulty exists in that they kill me at Wood Nymph and that my monsters miss the attacks on the last cards of the opponent since they have great possibilities to evade attacks.

Round 2

image.png

Having passed the first round, I can say that victory is a matter of time, there is hardly any chance of a defeat, the best chance the opponent had was for the Serpentine Spy to attack the Wood Nymph, but the conditions were in place for this not to happen, the other possibility left is for the Sand Worm to miss all attacks on Fire Elemental. On the other hand I lost the Goblin Thief, but this does not pose a danger.

Round 3

image.png

The Possibilities for my opponent after the second round were practically exhausted, with the Fire Elemental destroyed, what remains is to wait for the battle to end, because it could only connect 2 damage on the Stone Golem and that would not be a problem because the Wood Nymph would restore those 2 lost points.

Round 4

image.png

Same conditions as round 3, he only has 2 cards left that should not pass this turn.

End of the Battle

image.png

Well indeed by the end of round 4 the opponent lost all his monsters and on my terrain there is still the mighty Stone Golem, the Sand Worm and the Wood Nymph, thus considering this a successful battle.

Conclusions

Finally, seen what has been seen, the great utility of Stone Golem is evidenced, the set of its characteristics, its low mana cost and its Shield ability make this an almost perfect tank to keep safe and protect the rest of your cards. On the other hand, highlight the good combination that is achieved between this and the summoner Mylor Crowling as well as the importance of having good supports such as the Wood Nymph.
