Hi Splinterlands Addicts.
My name is luckydude and I am an addict.
I wanted to, it just made sense after all not to, the math was as clear as day. But I gave in, I just couldn't abstain anymore. Is there something wrong with me?
After all, everyone knows you should get your capture rate as high as possible. I drove mine right down to 29% during my last binge. Some experts say it builds up at the rate of 1% per hour. I would just have to wait for three boring and meaningless days in my life until it gets to 100% again. It was now at 50%. I couldn't do it...
I had one more hour left on my daily focus, and my screen said life focus chests zero. How sad, I had to help it. So, sticking to my rent for-profit strategy I quickly rented some level one life monsters and a summoner that cost me about 1 DEC for the day's rental. I had just an hour to turn a profit with a low capture rate. My heart was pumping, I could feel the adrenaline flowing into me and the dopamine spiking my brain. For the next hour, I would have no worries in the world other than crushing Splinterlands opponents ....and bots.
Just to backtrack a bit and to give you some background, I am at bronze level now, my rating before the session was about 1550. It's very high for bronze seeing you only need to be 1000 to play silver, one level higher. My ultimate goal is to have 100% capture rate, rent high-level summoners and monsters for a day and try silver for the first time. That will be a blog for another day.
Anyway, back to my binge last night. I won my very first battle against a level two summoner and some leveled-up cards, and my focus chests had broken the duck and were on one. Aaah, not so sad anymore. But then inevitably I was outgunned and fairly long losing streaks started to occur. The more I lost, the more I was determined to win. I was clicking on click to results just to save time and fit more battles in. I did manage to nick some wins here and there. And then the crazy hour was over. My rating was down to 1304. I had five chests waiting to be opened. What would the cards reveal?
Card one... Potion...Fark!
Card two... Potion ...Fark!
Card three ... Potion ... Fark! not again.
Card four .... Potion ... Fark! Am I being scammed here?
Card five ........ Tide Biter...Huh, what's that?
I went to peakmonsters to see what it was worth. It was at about 1 USD. I managed to sell it for 95c. That's enough to buy a loaf of bread in South Africa where I live. I had earned my daily bread. I also earned back the DEC I used for rentals. Is it possible to have more fun in an hour? However, my capture rate has been murdered again.
PS. I see Tide Biter is now at $1.37. I could have had some cheese with my bread if I waited a bit.
