⚒️ August 2021 : #Splinterlands Early Game Strategy 🎴
The first thing new players will need to do is to buy a Spellbook ($10) to unlock your #gaming name. This @ name will be registered forever and can't be changed - but you can register as many accounts as you want, there is no limit to the number of spellbooks you can buy!
If you cannot afford to buy the spellbook then check the Yield Guild Games #Splinterlands Discord channel and apply for a scholarship there (discord link under 'Social Media Links' at the end).
Splinterlands runs on the HIVE #Blockchain. Once your game name is registered your HIVE wallet will also be registered at the same time. You can now interact with HIVE platforms [Dapps] such as Peakmonsters.com or Splintertalk.com You MUST keep your HIVE wallet keys safe. If your wallet keys are lost or stolen you risk losing all of your assets (cards, cryptocurrency, game land etc.) forever!
Once the Spellbook is Purchased: start with just playing a few battles and get a feel for the game. Great early game Splinters are Fire, Water and Death (☠️ see two of my Youtube video links below for some high % winning combinations).

Right now the cheapest way to get Reward Chests early on in the game is to buy Quest potions using game Credits ($0.75c for 1 Quest potion). Once you complete your Daily Quest, you will receive an extra 5 x Reward Chests. Your chance of receiving valuable Cards and DEC rewards will be greatly increased by using a daily Quest Potion.
The in game currency is called $DEC, you receive it for winning Ranked Battles, Competing in events or Selling / Renting cards & other game assets. $DEC is best used for buying game cards or trading for Credits (in order to buy Quest potions).
$SPS is the Splinterlands governance Token and is earned in Airdrops depending on your base power (BP*), or it can be traded on Gate.io, pancakeswap.finance, uniswap and other token exchanges.
BP is determined by the number of assets owned in Splinterlands, e.g. Cards, land, skins, $DEC. You can check your BP and $SPS drops by checking in the SPS management page in Splinterlands**. You will need to use a (mobile device) Browser or Computer login to access SPS Management as the Mobile App does not have the full set of gaming features. Splinterlands is meant to be played on a computer screen, but the mobile app works perfectly for completing daily quests and grinding wins for $DEC ⚒️

also do you have to open them right before completing the quest or does it happen automatically?
Hi. You must use Credits to buy Quest Potions. It works out a lot cheaper than DEC. You can buy credits using PayPal or linking a crypto wallet (use the desktop app on a computer / Mac)
Once you a buy a Quest Potion it will automatically be used on your next daily quest. I buy 10 at a time for $7.50 worth if Credits, plus 1 extra bonus Potion is given for free. This gives me 55 extra Chests over 11 days.
11 Quest potions x 5 = 55 Chests!
One Gold card pays for the $7.50 I put in!
