Hello, Splinterlands friends! We're back and ready to take on another weekly challenge to test our battling skills. This is my first time posting so be nice :D

This week's challenge features the "Odd Ones Out" rule.

This rule adds a layer of difficulty to the game, as many units will be excluded, requiring careful selection and balance of units.

I have an interesting match to share for this rule, so here it is.

Battle Conditions
In addition to the given rule, these conditions apply.

Silence Summoners - Summoners do not give any stats.

Tis but Scratches - Every unit gets the Cripple ability.

image.png

Mana - 37 mana for this match

image.png

Element - Water, life and dragon.

Line Up Selection
LETS GET READY TO RUMBLE!

Because of the rule Silence Summoners and the high amount of mana, it was a no-brainer to choose Quix as my summoner. This allowed me to include dragon units in my lineup.

image.png
NOA THE JUST - The main problem everyone faces when playing with only odd monsters is what to choose for the tank position in the team. This is because in Modern, there are not that many tanks available. This time, I went with NOA (even though it is still under-leveled for me), mainly because of Rust (which didn't matter at all in this fight anyway) and because I was able to give it 3 melee damage using Kulu's best ability: weapons training.

image.png

KULU MASTERMIND - As stated before, this monster is a beast not only because of weapons training but also because it has opportunity and enrage, making it hit for 8 points of melee damage with 6 speed. This was the main factor that allowed me to win the game.

image.png
OSHUUR CONSTANTIA - A very useful support unit. Healing keeps my tanks alive, and resurrection buys time for my damage dealers to do their job.

image.png
ANGELIC MANDARIN - Another debuffer and support unit; silence and triage are very useful.

image.png
VENARI WAVESMITH - Another support unit mainly chosen because of its protect ability. Since this was a Silence Summoners match, there was no armor coming in from our summoners, so it's better to get that armor from somewhere else, and for 5 mana, it's a great deal.

image.png
PELACOR BANDIT - Last but not least, Pelacor Bandit is one of the best low-mana units available in the Odds Ones Out ruleset. It's a very versatile unit and very good for protecting the backline from sneak attackers because of its high speed and flying abilities. In fact, the first hit from Stitch Leech was a miss because of this.

Enemy lineup:

image.png

The enemy decided to use a different strategy, choosing light monsters and using the Martyr ability and 2 resurrections to buff the tank and the main damage dealer. It was a powerful and respectable strategy, and it usually works well because if Void Dragon gets enough speed, it becomes an untouchable tank.

Battle Highlights
Luckily for me, this time the enemy's strategy failed because I was able to kill Iziar 3 times before any of my units fell.

image.png

Once I finished dealing with the taunter, my tank was almost dead, and the enemy had two really buffed units. Stitch Leech had 7 attack and 7 speed, and Void Dragon was hitting for 4 magic damage and had 9 speed.

But once their tank was out, my Kulu Mastermind was able to get to work and started eliminating the enemy backline.

image.png

Getting rid of Adelade was the first step.

After that, my tank was killed, so Kulu took the first position. Once it took 1 point of damage, it became a very powerful monster with enrage.

image.png

I still had my healer up, so I wasn't too concerned about taking a few magic hits.

In the end, it was all about RNG, since my Kulu had 2 less speed than the enemy tank with flying. Luckily, I was able to hit the dragon twice and get rid of

image.png

Once the enemy tank was out the fight was almost over, Kulu was still alive and very angry and took out the enemy team with haste.

This was definitely an exciting fight, and both teams had a good chance of winning. A few misses on my part would have cost me the game, but sometimes the RNG gods are with you.

I eagerly anticipate more battles in the days ahead.
Wishing everyone success with this challenge rule.
Have a great day, and see you next time!
