SHADOW SNITCH BATTLE CHALLENGE

As you might see, I edited Splinterland's thumbnail and just made my own. I prefer this one over the new one they just posted. 😅

Anyways, it's time, yet again for another battle challenge! I honestly, am proud with this one because I was able to utilize all of my cards without the main star of this battle challenge being just an accessory. This is also, I think, the only battle challenge where the featured monster wasn't unalived 'till the end.

Here's a backstory of our featured monster from the official lore of @Splinterlands themselves:

"Shadow Snitches are created by the conjurers of the Chaos Legion. Weaving Death magic, they breathe life into beings made completely of darkness. The purpose of the Shadow Snitches is to be deployed into lands prior to the Chaos Legion's invasion. Moving from shadow to shadow, they are listeners and watchers, feeding information back to the Chaos Legion.

But once the invasion is complete, the Shadow Snitches still serve a purpose. They can locate and follow high-value targets, reporting back on movements to Chaos Legion leadership. If needed, Shadow Snitches can also capture prisoners and bring them back for interrogation."

So basically, it's Splinterland's very own FBI. They track, retrace and capture!

SHADOW SNITCH BATTLE CHALLENGE

If you watched my battle, you would see that the following are the rulesets:

shadow snitch rulesets.jpg

  1. UNPROTECTED: A rule where monsters who have armors lose them and summoners and monsters can't provide it.

  2. LOST MAGIC: This is when monsters with magic attack may not be used in battle, which made this battle challenge easier.

  3. 48 MANA CAP: Well, I'm back to high mana battles, which I guess what made this battle very effective since I have a lot of options.

  4. Finally, only WATER, EARTH, LIFE and DEATH splinters were allowed in this battle.

Since the battle banned magic monsters from joining, I was thinking of a summoner that can decrease my enemy's MELEE or RANGE attack and because this challenge has 48 mana cap, I can easily use the high mana summoners.

And for this, I used the legendary summoner, CRYPT MANCER which has 3 debuffs, -1 melee attack, -1 speed and -1 hit points.

For my tank, I used another legendary card, DARK HA'ON, it has 1 shield (which will not be used in this battle) and 13 hit points, that's high sustain for you! It also has 2 incredible abilities TAUNT (which allows monsters to attack it first) and FLYING (an ability with high chance of evading non-flying monsters. attacks).

This week's main star was placed on the second position since it has Reach which would allow it to attack from that spot.

I then placed the neutral monster GARGOYA DEVIL in the third spot because of its Close Range ability, I will be placing all range monsters after it so I want a range monster that can attack from the first position if ever my 2 melee monsters get taken down.

Gargoya Devil.jpg

On the fourth spot is the new airdrop card LIRA THE DARK, I am not lucky for the past 5 airdrops, I did not get any of them at all! I am still thankful because I got 1 Dr. Blight which is like the most expensive out of all of them.

Anyways, I placed her in that position because of her Opportunity ability, wherein she will target the monster with the lowest health first.

I must say, she is a pretty awesome card, I am thinking of buying her since she only costs less than $8.00 now.

On the fifth spot is probably one of my favorite cards right now from the dark deck, DHAMPIR STALKER, what I love about him the most is his 3 range attack which would be very hurtful since he also has the TRUE STRIKE ability which allows him to not miss any of his attacks.

Dhampir Stalker.jpg

And at the end of my deck is the ever reliable WAR CHAANG, it has 8 hit points, high sustain from monsters with Sneak attacks. He also has Retaliate, this gives him the ability to attack melee monsters back. This card has been a favorite of mine since I started using it.

shadow snitch first round.jpg

The FIRST ROUND started with a lot of debuffs, I honestly thought I will lose this battle because out of all the summoners, he used Contessa L'ament which would deduct 1 range attacks from my deck and I have 4 monsters who has range attacks, good thing none of them has 1 range attack so they will still be able to give good damage.

After all the deductions on attack points, speed and hp, Lira the Dark attacked Dark Astronomer first since it's the monster with the lowest hp from my opponent's deck.

War Chaang, Dark Ha'on, Dhampir Stalker and Gargoya Devil simultaneously attacked my opponent's Cursed Windeku, leaving it with only 3 hp. Since it has Thorns, my tank got torned and lost 2 hp.

My enemy's tank then attacked my very own tank but since it's not a flying monster, it missed. Silent Sha-vi then attacked next and was able to incur 1 melee damage.

His own Dhampir Stalker attacked my tank next followed by Dark Astronomer and was able to deal 5 range attack easily. His Mantoid attacked after but it was a miss.

Lastly, for this round, Shadow Snitch attacked and was able to dish out 1 melee damage but sustained 1 melee damage.

On to ROUND TWO! After Lira and War Chaang attacked my enemy's tank, it went down! No more thorns! 😁

Ha'on, Gargoya Devil and Damphir Stalker's attacks also caused the next monster to go down. My enemy is now left with only 4 cards. (Well, that was uneventful 🤔) and since Disintegrator is gone, my Ha'on and War Chaang's melee attacks went back to normal.

His remaining cards tried to attack my tank but only Dhampir Stalker's pushed through, all the others missed. The last one to attack was my Shadow Snitch but it unfortunately, also missed.

After that, Lira gave Dark Astronomer another range attack by the start of the THIRD ROUND. War Chaang attacked Sha-vi next, followed by Ha'on and Gargoya Devil and with those attacks, it went down.

My Dhampir Stalker then put Dark Astronomer down together with her fallen comrades. Mantoid was able to sneak one range attack to my Ha'on which caused it to go down too, as if taking revenge for all his unalived friends. That round ended with Shadow Snitch as the tank and attacking my enemy's Dhampir Stalker.

The FOURTH and FIFTH ROUNDs were just some scenes with another OVERKILL!

shadow snitch lastround.jpg

Since the only left monsters from my opponent were range cards, it was just a matter of time before they get annihilated!

Just look at CRYPTO MANCER's menacing look! Who would dare go up against that!

I was in Silver I at that time but upon writing this blog, all my rentals ended so you can see my border to be in Bronze.

I am pretty proud with this battle because the featured monster wasn't just there for meat shield or an accessory. It actually helped with the overall victory of this battle.

Shadow Snitch has a really slow speed and only 1 melee attack. What is good about it is that it has 5 hp and Reach so it can be used in low mana battles.

But if you really want to use Shadow Snitch, I advice that you use a high sustain tank so it can continuously attack from the second position.

This strategy really worked for me since it was a high mana battle, I had a lot of good choices and good cards. Magic monsters were also not allowed in battle so that limited the monsters to just melee and range.

Will I use Shadow Snitch again? That would be a definite YES! It is a specially good card if you are able to utilize its Reach ability well.

All righty! That is it for my Shadow Snitch battle challenge, see you next week!

Your explanation of your strategy was very good. I only recommend you to improve some aspects of your format, but you do it very well, keep it up, it was an incredible battle.

Yes, thank you! I am still learning and has been reading a lot of these battle challenges to get inspiration when posting my own! I appreciate the suggestion. 👍
