DRAGON BATTLE CHALLENGE TWO POINT OH

I remember this was the first battle challenge that I blogged about so let me reuse that thumbnail I used before, the new one is dope though. I just really like this thumbnail.

First off, let me tell you how much I love this deck, if I could complete all the cards from one splinter element, it would be the DRAGON CARDS. I think the Dragon Deck is too OP but of course in the right situations.

The dragon has all sorts of summoners that can counter almost any other deck, though the downside is that most of them require high mana.

I am specially in love with BYZANTINE KITTY and DELWYN DRAGONSCALE. Kitty's +2 and Heal can literally change the tide of the game. And Delwyn's +1 Magic Attack is an ability that can go head to head with the magic meta right now.

Like I said in the previous sentence, I am especially in love with BYZANTINE KITTY right now. I love that it has a lot of BUFFS which were extremely useful in this battle.

Alright, if you want to watch my awesome battle, click the blue link after this:

MY LEVEL 1 BYZANTINE KITTY VS. A LEVEL 2 ALRIC STORMBRINGER

If you watched the battle, you will see that the rulesets in this battle were:

dragon battle 2.0 rulesets.jpg

  1. EXPLOSIVE WEAPONRY, a rule where all monsters have the Blast ability, this is an ability that does additional damage to monsters adjacent to the target monster.

  2. CLOSE RANGE, this allows range monsters to attack from the first position.

  3. 99 MANA CAP, the max mana a battle can have, which means more choices with cards.

  4. All decks can be used except for LIFE SPLINTERS.

As I have much love with BYZANTINE KITTY, I chose it as my summoner for the battle. It has +2 Speed, TRUE STRIKE (which allows monsters' attacks to not miss) and Heal.

As for my tank, I used CALADUUM as looking at my opponent's brief battle history, he was an Alrick Stormbringer spammer, so Caladuum's Void (this reduces the magic damage being dealt to it) is perfect.

I placed CHAOS DRAGON on the second position due to it's 10 hit points. Since this battle involves Blast, it could take some damage before getting taken down. Aside from that, it also has Scattershot which would hit enemy monsters at random.

Aside from that, it also has Flying which has a high probability of evading attacks from melee and range monsters, especially with the latter since range monsters can attack from the first position.

On the third position is the DIAMOND DRAGON, I chose this card for its Slow ability, it will reduce the speed of my enemy's monsters and since this is a battle with Blast, I want to take advantage of the power of speed and just keep on attacking my opponent.

On the fourth spot is BLACK DRAGON, I placed this card in this specific position because of its Life Leech ability. I want it to get more hit points after attacking and if ever there are Snipe monsters, it won't easily go down.

I then placed VOID DRAGON in the fifth place. I chose this monster because of its 5 Speed and if you add Byzantine Kitty's +2 Speed to that, it would always be the first to attack.

At the end was DJINN INFERNI and has a whooping 3 Magic Damage attack. It also has the Giant Killer ability which would inflict double damage if its target is a monster that costs 10 mana or more.

This was a very short battle, I guess because I had such high magic damage and attacks would directly penetrate my opponent's hit points, disregarding their armor that my opponent's monsters went down easily. Talk about OVERKILL!

ROUND 1

After all the buffs and debuffs, my Void Dragon was the first to attack and since my opponent's Wave Brood has Taunt, it targeted it first, due to the Explosive Weaponry rule, it also attacked Lobstradamus with 1 magic damage.

Chaos Dragon attacked Djinn Oshannus next which then dealt another magic damage to the next card, Nerissa Tridawn. Diamond Dragon, Djinn Inferni and Black Dragon consecutively attacked Wave Brood, that then caused a total of 3 magic damage to Lobstradamus.

My enemy's tank then attacked Caladuum but since it has Void, it was only able to cause 1 magic damage as retaliation, my tank then attacked Oshannus and cause 1 magic damage to it and to the next card.

River Hollendale, the new airdrop card Spirit Hoarder, Lobstradamus and Nerissa Tridawn progressively attacked my tank and Chaos Dragon. But all of them was only able to bring Caladuum's hp to 2. Wave Brood attacked last but my tank's and Chaos Dragon's armor took that damage.

ROUND 2

At the start of the second round, Byzantine Kitty was able to heal Caladuum and bring it's hp up to 5. After that, Void Dragon immediately attacked Wave Brood which then gave Lobstradamus 1 magic damage.

Chaos Dragon randomly attacked Spirit Hoarder and got taken down but was suddenly resurrected (not for long) by River Hollendale. Diamond Dragon attacked Wave Brood again and since Lobstradamus only has 1 hp left, with the Blast attack, it went down.

Djinn Inferni then attacked next and caused the just ressurected Spirit Hoarder go to the afterlife a second time around. Black Dragon then attacked Wave Brood one last time and caused it's inevitable demise.

Djinn Oshannus attacked next and was able to unalive my Chaos Dragon. My tank then retaliated for its fallen comrade but was unfortunate as River Hollandale and Nerissa Tridawn sent him to Hades.

ROUND 3

The last round started with my summoner healing my new tank Diamond Dragon, it was able to raise my tank's hp from 2 to 4. Void Dragon attacked after that but since it only has 1 magic damage, it was not able to cause any harm to Djinn Oshannus because it has Void but was able to cause Nerissa 1 magic damage, thank you Blast!

The rest of my remaining monsters continuously attacked my opponent's monsters which then led to his ANNIHILIATION!

Won't you look at Byzantine Kitty's very cute and glinting eyes! Who would dare hurt this cutie cute cute?!

The Dragon deck is one helluva deck. It has pretty OP monsters that could easily counter a lot of decks right now. You just need to know what cards to use correctly.

I guess this strategy worked really well because I focused on magic damage which would directly hit my opponent's hp and disregarding their armor no matter how high they might be. I am also fortunate to be matched up with a magic spammer since I am pretty much aware on how to counter that.

I also used the power of +2 Speed from my summoner which enabled me to attack first and attack hard. The only downfall with this kind of deck is if my opponent used a summoner that would lessen my magic damage like Thaddius Brood or Bortus. Or a summoner that has magic reflect like Owster Rotwell.

I am still very happy since this strategy worked really well in this battle.

Would I ever use Dragon Cards again? A DEFINITE AND RESOUNDING YES! Like I said, if there is a deck that I want to complete it would be the dragon deck. The marketplace is teeming with cheap cards now, of all sorts, so why not take good advantage of that too.

All righty! That's it for this week's challenge. I certainly enjoyed doing this one! See you next week!
