Weekly Battle Challenge : Mycelic Morphoid

3 line Green.png

Introduction

Hello guys welcome to my blog. This week's battle challenge theme is Mycelic Morphoid. Mycelic Morphoid card is available in starter card set to everyone for free of cost. It belongs to earth(green) splinter. It's a common card and at Level 1 it has no ability. It goes up to level 10 and at level 3 it gets it only ability Thorns (When hit with a Melee attack, does damage back to the attacker). As it's a common and chaos legion card it fairly cheap to buy and max it.

Lore

Mycelic Morphoids are in a constant state of growth and development. As part of Queen Mycelia's brood, Morphoids work to spread the growing blight on Praetoria. Infected themselves by the poison, they take root near streams and rivers, contaminating it with the blight. In turn, the waters feed them, and a second Morphoid sprouts from the original. Together, the two travel as one until they split and continue the process.

Anyways Let's get into the battle. Here's the line up :

Ruleset :

(Explained from left to right)

  • Equalizer - The initial Health of all Monsters is equal to that of the Monster on either team with the highest base Health.

  • Reverse Speed - Monsters with the lowest Speed attack first and have the highest chance of evading attacks.

  • Mana - 30

  • Splinters Allowed - Fire, Earth (leaf icon), Death (Skull icon), Dragon and Water.

Thought process

Around 30 mana people generally spam Magic with earth summoner so I wanted to try and counter that. But I don't know why opponent went Fire summoner and left himself vulnerable to magic damage. Mycelic Morphoid with a healer in a Equalizer ruleset made it a very good tank. I feel like this ruleset pairing is probably the best for using Mycelic Morphoid. Although it is generally used as a soft tank to take a hit and die.

Battle

Round 1

  • Goblin Psychic healed my Mycelic Morphoid back to full health.

  • Only Khmer Princess took damage in first round.

  • Opponent tank took a beating.

Round 2

chrome_screenshot_1649786178144.png

  • Opponent tank died.

  • Mycelic Morphoid took 2 damage and Khmer Princess is down to 1 health because of opponent's sneak attack and opportunity monster attacking it.

Round 3

chrome_screenshot_1649786240199.png

  • Opponent's Second monster is down to 1 health

  • Khmer Princess died.

  • Mycelic Morphoid is still surviving with 5 health

Round 4

chrome_screenshot_1649786341721.png

  • Opponent's Second monster died.

  • Third monster took a lot of damage.

  • Opponent's range attack missed on Mycelic Morphoid because of Reverse speed ruleset.

  • Because of Camouflage Opponent's card are ignoring Doctor Blight and heating Venari Seedsmith.

Round 5

chrome_screenshot_1649786423941.png

  • Opponent' is down to three monsters while only one of my monster died.

  • Mycelic Morphoid is still surviving.

Round 6

chrome_screenshot_1649786503477.png

  • Finally Mycelic Morphoid died but it did it's job.

  • Opponent is down to 2 monsters and once current monsters dies opponent will have no damage as range monsters' can't attack from first position.

Round 7

Cards Used with explanations :

(All cards are level 1 and Battle is from Silver 3 league)

Mycelic Morphoid_lv1.png

Mycelic Morphoid - At first position I placed Mycelic Morphoid. It's a one mana card and I had one mana left so I chose this. I only wanted it to take few magic hits from opponent as I thought opponent would also go magic and allow my magic attack to do damage. Equalizer ruleset allowed it to get 10 health. In this battle because of healer it managed survive few rounds.

Unicorn Mustang_lv1.png

Unicorn Mustang :

At second position I placed Unicorn Mustang. As it was Equalizer ruleset I used it to give 10 health to each monster. Also it has void so it would be tank a lot of magic damage when it comes to first place.

Goblin Psychic_lv1.png

Goblin Psychic :

At third position I placed Goblin Psychic which is a frontline healer. Because of this card Mycelic Morphoid survived for a few rounds. It's 3 magic damage killed a few monsters.

Venari Seedsmith_lv1.png

Venari Seedsmith :

At fourth position I placed Venari Seedsmith which is a ranged monster with scavenger ability. I used it for it's 2 range damage as using only magic damage could be easily countered with void.

Doctor Blight_lv1.png

Doctor Blight :

At fifth position I placed Doctor Blight which is 4 mana neutral legendary card. It has two abilities: Camouflage and Affliction. Affliction is a hard counter to healing and it was one of the reason i used it. Another reason was Reverse speed ruleset because of which this card would attack first and probably apply affliction.

Khmer Princess_lv1.png

Khmer Princess :

At last position is Khmer Princess which is 2 mana Magic damage card. To be honest i mispaced this. It would have been better at fourth position. I used this card for it's magic damage.

Did your strategy work? What will you try differently next time?

Yep it did work out fine this time. Well that depends on ruleset.

Do you like the (monster)? Why or why not?

I like this monster. It is a low mana card so it can be squeezed into a lot of compositions and act as a soft tank. In little league, Equalizer and reverse speed this card is a must have in green team. At level 3 when it get Thorns ability it's damage output increases.

Hope you like my post. Thank you.
