First Tourney

My first attempt at playing in a tourney yesterday didn't go all that well. For these types of tourneys, apparently you set up your battles all at once, then wait a while to watch them play out later on after the other players have set up their battles as well. You play in 7 battles total, and the site went down for maintenance right when I was in the middle of setting up one of mine.

This counted as a surrender for some reason, and I took a loss for it. I guess next time when I see the pop-up warning that maintenance is going to happen in 10 minutes, I'll know to stop trying to set up battles! I had hoped I could get them all done within the 10 minutes between when the tourney started and when the maintenance was going to start. No such luck.
I think I was on battle set up 6 out of 7 when it happened. So close! When the maintenance was over, I set up my last battle, watched the results of a few of my battles and then waited to see how the rest of the tourney would play out.
The results for me were 3 Wins and 4 Losses. Out of the 3 Wins, 2 of them were actually 'surrenders' - I think this happened because the other players maybe didn't come back to the site in time to finish setting up their battles.
Overall, not the best experience. I'm just left wondering how it would have played out if I'd managed to finish setting up my battle before the site went down or if those two players hadn't 'surrendered'. The upside here is that it was a very inexpensive no-loss tourney with only a 3 DEC entry fee. I'd feel a lot worse if it had happened with a high-priced tourney or one with great prizes. I don't think I'll be entering one of those for a long while yet, though.
I don't have much DEC for high entry fees, don't have the greatest selection of cards, and I don't think I'm experienced enough to play in a higher stakes tourney. Maybe by the time I've built up a better card collection, I'll also feel that I have enough experience for that. In the meantime, I have entered another of the no-loss tourneys for tomorrow. Hopefully I'll have a better experience with this one!
