It's ya boy CaptainDingus and I am back with another Soulkeep update 😁
My apologies on my lack of posts recently - I have had an absolutely brutal month at work - between the economy and losing our senior management... it's been rough.
Typically I sell around 13-14 cars per month... and earn a decent living doing it... last month... 6. I struggled to sell 6... because of this I have had to put in extra hours not only at that job... but also at my second job so I could try and make up for it.
Job 1 is for bills n stuff... Job 2 is for savings + money for Crypto and Splinterlands!!
At this point, feet pics are not off the table... lmaaaaaaaaao jk jk jk no one wants to see my goofy ass feet :P
Today however, I wanted to write about the State of Rewards in Soulkeep and show people that this game is a GREAT path to earning SPS!!
As you can see they tweaked the Reward Share downward a little bit to enable the lower Leagues to earn a bit more SPS... This is helpful to get more people into the game but kinda sucks for those who spent a lot of Time/DEC to earn their way up to League 8/9 (no one is in L10 at the time of this writing).
Shoutouts to the big dawgs in L9:
@erlendo - first one in L9 because they got dat good brain 🤓

alexandrp54321 - head of the Russian Mafia* and probably affiliated with the KGB
*Russian Mafia: A small group of players, possibly even just one guy although he claims not to be... who started the "Reward Farming" of the Leagues by putting multiple Alt accounts into the game and then using the "Delegation Exploit" to cycle ONE set of cards through these accounts to reap MASSIVE rewards.
This allowed them to keep ticket expenditures low (1 free attempt per account) and push out most of the other players in that league from the Top 5.
In fairness to all sides, "they" do own a bunch of Soulkeep Assets between accounts but knowingly abusing this exploit and being pretty shitty about it to the rest of the players pissed off a BUNCH of the community in the Discord
IMPORTANT: They earned the nickname "Russian Mafia" not because of any derogatory thoughts or feelings towards Russians... it is simply because they are in the Guilds [Splinterlands-RU [Pro]] + [Thallid] + [Рогатые Трупоеды]...
Clearly they are Russian... and they were acting like the Mafia. Could have been the Thallid Mafia but Alexandrp is the one who was most active and again, in all fairness - spent a LOT of DEC on Tickets farming souls since the launch. He earned his place up top - although watching Erlendo beat him to L9 was hilarious... #Salty
Kudos to him in that regard, it was the shitty behavior and Discord attitude after that earned the ire of the rest of us.

Ok you're caught up on the Soulkeep drama and the big dawgs have been shouted out - let's get on with it and see what kind of rewards we are talking about!
I am going to show the Rewards from yesterday, 10/1/2024, for each League and then let you decide if it is worth it to start playing (bonus content at the end)... LFGGGGGGGGGG!
As you can see with League 1 - this is a game where EVERY minute detail counts and can mean the difference between 1st and 2nd... Look at the scores!!
Talk about a close game!! That's pretty awesome to see but one thing is apparent - you better be good to earn some of those SPS rewards!!!
Prize Breakdown for League 1:
1st: 269 SPS
2nd: 232 SPS
3rd: 195 SPS
10th: 25.49 SPS
11th: 13.13 SPS

As you can see, even in League 1... the winner gets 269 SPS!! That's a LOT of SPS earned and their Asset investment is PENNIES!!
Seriously - most cards are pennies and you can RENT a Celene for 200 DEC/d!
Prizes are pretty solid for the top 4 but fall off rapidly after that...

Example of Multi-Accounts that are "Reward Farming":
2nd = ARJAYF3
4th = ARJAYF

This means the player "Arjay" used a few accounts to spam cheap attempts in League 2, with lower ticket costs... and earned... 509.4 SPS!
500 SPS PER DAY from this... there's a lesson there...

Here is where you can see the breakaway from the Multi-Accounters as there is a large gap between 1st and 2nd place (2,000pts) vs the 40pt gap between 1st and 4th place in League 3...

Ahh yes... the "Russian Mafia"... This is how they earned that name...
Notice that only one or two "players" here have more than 1 attempt yet many of them are just a few points off from each other?
That's because once they played their Free Attempt on one account... they simply load another account and play that one... once they do this a time or three... since there is no RNG to maps stats anymore... they have the "perfect" run down and then just Copy/Paste that run into their 10+ Accounts...
For those wondering - SCI-BOTS, XOUTSIDER and DELEGAT are "Bot" accounts owned by these guys.
Literally named "Sci-Bots", "Sci-Populi"... and come on... how much of a slap in the face is "Delegat"... as in "Knowingly abusing the Delegate Exploit"... wow.
The Delegate Exploit was where you could play your attempts on a card using ALL of its energy... then delegate that card to another account... where it would have FULL ENERGY... so you could Reward Farm with an Alt... then wash/rinse/repeat.
Unless I missed my mark... the top 11 is all part of that crew... which means for 11 accounts they spent 13 total attempts.
11 Free + 2 Paid Attempts = 59 Tickets * 2 = 118 Tickets * 4 DEC = 472 DEC...
So for 472 DEC... they farmed the ENTIRE REWARD POOL... Taking ALL of 3,087.78 SPS... and edged the other players out of the Prize Pool... which is why they are lovingly called... the "Russian Mafia".
See how the top 10 all have Novice Shields... with the exception of Vertor and Sci-Populi...
Many of these accounts are in the guild Thallid... except the Player Thallid... who is in [Splinterlands-RU [Pro]] and the one account in... wait for it... [Silver-RU] 😑
So yeah - one or two actual players are farming 3,000+ SPS and pushing out the actual players from winning anything... see photo for 12th+ places:
Anyways... not much we can do about it and they just call us "whiners" when we do since it's not "illegal" on the game terms... just shit outta luck 🤡

Another League, another Farm for the Russian Mafia...
Kapusta676 is in the Guild [Рогатые Трупоеды] and shared delegation with Alexandr and Bakenbard and a bunch of others...
As you can see much of the top 10 is taken up by these goons... but as you can see, with this amount competition and less of their accounts in the League... they have to spend 2 Attempts per account and can't secure all of the consecutive top spots...

Not so tough without his Alts to allow him to have the "Perfect" run for almost nothing... I'm sure this will change when the rest of those clowns move up from L6... and with the Soulboxes now available... I'm sure that's not too far off.

Alexandr bumped up from 8 after much crying in the Discord about how unfair it was that Erlendo outsmarted him.
This was EXTRA-hilarious because he was an Absolut pretentious douche to other people when they were like "How tf did you get so high up in the Leagues, you earn so much, not fair"...
This is thanks in part to the Soulboxes and some fuckery where he and 1 or 2 other accounts (I'm betting I know which ones) were able to multi-purchase Soulboxes... before the "glitch" was caught and addressed.
Erlendo is OG of L9 and Thomaswrocks has worked his... rocks off grinding up there!
Congrats you guys (not you Alexandr) - enjoy those rewards while you can!!
After rubbing it in everyones face about how awesome he was for getting up to L8 one League ahead of the rest of us... Earning MASSIVE rewards along the way... and how us peasants shouldn't whine about what rewards we were left to receive...
It was ABOSLUTELY GLORIOUS when Erlendo using that giant Brain of his figured out the fastest and most cost effective way to enter L9... after they were to be unlocked...
On that fateful day, when the devs turned the key to open L9... oh... what do I mean... "Opened L9"...
Well... if you weren't around for it... some players "Advanced too fast" in the early stages... and the devs thought the "best course of action" was to "Lock League 9 & 10" for "Reasons" 😒
Anyways... on the day L9 was opened... Thomas, Alexandr and Erlendo were duking it out in L8... but little did Thomas and Alexandr know...
Erlendo had read the League Requirements... and recognized that L5 was best for farming Epics... which turned out to be the restrictor for L9...
By doing so... despite all of Alexandrs gloating... Erlendo entered L9 FIRST on the day it was opened...

Thursday, September 19th, 2024 was the day Erlendo entered our Hearts and the Soulkeep Hall of Fame... but it wasn't the only day they earned a HUGE payday!
It wasn't until Monday, September 30th, 2024 that he was joined by Thomaswrocks...
That means Erlendo earned almost 10k per day... minus the Tue/Wed/Thus where the Devs realized they gave out too many rewards and had to shut off the Rewards to balance it out lmaooooooo nice work DC 🐵🐒🤡

This is a great read, and hopefully, it will make people realize we need big changes in this game we all love.

The SPS leeching that is happening by a handful of accounts is pretty ridiculous. I'm glad they fixed the delegation exploit, but only after people were able to extract so much SPS for so little. Even now, renting is so cheap that there are accounts who are renting instead of delegating and re-delegating, and they're still able to extract a lot of SPS that way. Someone is being extra sneaky about it, too. Buying Hive on Coinex, bringing that in and then buying DEC with it, and using that to rent cards. Never making transfers between accounts, essentially leaving no trail.
The way they keep moving the goal posts is getting exhausting. For a while, Erlendo was the luckiest one for figuring out the best strategy because the moved the goal posts on epic soul requirements. Then they moved it again and introduced Soulboxes, which changed everything again. I feel like the game should've been introduced as more of a formal test, perhaps without any actual rewards and with no cost to play in tournaments... or something. It just seems wrong to change things up so much when people, including myself, have spent so much on the game.
Soulboxes are the weirdest idea. It's a way to explicitly buy progress in the game. Buying tickets to do more attempts or buying more cards is an indirect way to optimize one's strategy, and that's normal. But being able to buy the souls directly just seems like a a weird game mechanic. To me, it would be like if Splinterlands offered a way to buy ranking points with DEC. Or if bowling alleys allowed you to pay more for a way to just knock all ten pins down without even throwing a ball.
Idk, that was a novel-length comment... I should probably leave it there for now. haha.
That is definitely borderline booklet but the point is relevant and understood!
We shall see about things and how they shake out... but for now... I am still enjoying the game... just not adding nearly as many assets as before!
The reward structure is still way too top-heavy and doesn't really give a proper incentive for players to level up. I would even it out so the average players get more rewards instead of a handful of players who are just the best and also own the hero to get all the prizes.
What I would do is start out league 1 where maybe 30% of players get a reward, in League 2 make it 40%, League 3 50%, League 4 60%, ... and so on while making the gap between rewards smaller and more gradual so each spot gives a bit more. I would also give players 1 Free Test run just to see how well they manage to do and if they want to play for the leaderboard they have to pay to play with tickets so there is actually a sustainable revenue model for the rewards to keep going.
That said, I still enjoy my daily run of Soulkeep even though at best I'm getting 3-16 SPS while regularly I end outside of the money. Not owning the hero feels like a major handicap.
As for the Reward Structure - I am not sure what's best.
As for Celene - she is absolutely critical and Owning or Renting her is a must for high level play
