The Splinterlands team has recently proposed a new governance initiative called the DEC-B token. This new token is meant to provide players with a way to save on future in-game purchases by burning DEC tokens in exchange for DEC-B tokens. These DEC-B tokens can then be used in place of DEC for certain in-game purchases at a discounted rate.
For example, let's say it costs 10,000 DEC to upgrade a building in the game. A player could choose to burn 10,000 DEC in exchange for DEC-B tokens, which they could then use to make the upgrade at a discount. The exact discount will depend on the exchange rate at which the DEC-B tokens are being offered. For instance, the Splinterlands team has proposed selling DEC-B tokens at a rate of 0.8 DEC per DEC-B token. This means that if a player burns 10,000 DEC in exchange for DEC-B tokens, they would receive 12,500 DEC-B tokens (10,000 / 0.8 = 12,500). They could then use these DEC-B tokens to make the upgrade at a 20% discount (10,000 DEC-B tokens cost 8,000 DEC, so the player is effectively saving 2,000 DEC).
The DEC-B token is also planned to be able to be purchased with VOUCHER tokens, which are another in-game currency that can be used to receive discounts on certain purchases. The goal of this initiative is to incentivize players to burn DEC and VOUCHER tokens in the short term in order to receive a discount on future in-game purchases. These purchases may include land survey "potions," guild and alliance building upgrades, building upgrades in the land expansion, and future "mini-editions" such as orb and dice. It's worth noting that DEC-B tokens will not be able to be used to purchase items sold by Splinterlands, such as booster packs.
The proposal is requesting approval for a sale of 2 billion DEC-B tokens, to be sold at a rate of 0.8 DEC or 0.005 VOUCHER tokens each, for a period of 60 days. Once the sale period is over or the DEC-B tokens are sold out, there will not be any more DEC-B available for purchase unless the community votes to offer more for sale. The pricing for future DEC-B sales may also differ from the current proposal.
The DEC-B token sale is planned to go live by the end of January, pending community approval. It is worth noting that the Splinterlands team has stated that the DEC-B token is an experiment and that they may make adjustments to the system as needed.
Overall, the DEC-B token is a interesting new initiative that has the potential to provide players with a way to save on future in-game purchases by burning DEC and VOUCHER tokens in advance. If you're interested in joining the Splinterlands community and taking advantage of the DEC-B token, now is a great time to get involved! It will be interesting to see how the community responds to the proposal and whether or not the DEC-B token becomes a popular way for players to save on in-game purchases.
