TORHILO THE FROZEN - THE BIG BULL BEGINNER ANALYSIS

Charging through tomorrow
Just as proudly as before;
He runs from frozen sorrow
Nevermore, nevermore.

Torhilo the Frozen

Hello Splinterlands Warriors!

Hope you doing well. Today I came to share one of my favorite cards, the Big Bull. The first time I fought against it I got destroyed, this card wiped out my entire board. I felt like facing a real bull🤠! So next second I headed over peakmonster and got my own bull. For me, this is a powerful card, and also one of the coolest, after all, what can be cooler than a giant frozen glass bull that deflects magic? But let's focus on the stats first.

Disclaimer: Since this is a beginner guide and I'm low-level aspiring to improve my rank, I'll be talking about the base stats and ability, because this is what my experience is at.

Big numbers 💯

A big bull needs big numbers

Were those Huge numbers that Scared me in my first encounter. So let's take a closer look at it. First the attack, I read somewhere from an experienced player that 4 attacks are the magical number for the attack. There are only 4 cards with 4+ shields, and most of them will shatter after two or three rounds.
As I mentioned before there are few cards with 4+ shields, and luckily for us, Torhilo is one of them, 4 Shield can hold up for at least 2 rounds against a melee tank with 3 attack. After our Shield disappeared, we still have a healthy boy with 8 HP to suck up a lot of hits making, Torhilo a really strong tank.

The drawback of our big boy is that he uses a lot of mana, 9 to be more precise, although this is not a problem because of the stats that the cards bring to the arena, still, a high cost for low mana battles, making Torhilo more a situational card than a must-go-every-battle, but still, whenever the mana is enough, I'll throw a Torhilo for sure.
Another issue is that is very easy to run away from our bull since it only has 1 speed, making it hard to beat a high-speed monster because we might miss some of our attacks, and to miss an attack with a 4 attack monster is a big deal in the battle.

Ability 🛡

Here is where Torhilo shines and the reason behind my passion for this card, the Void ability. I'll explain why.
Magic is just one of the most broken stats of the game because unlike ranged and melee attacks, a magical attack cannot miss and go through the shield. This means all the other attacks are subject to dodge and flying ability, while have to plow through the shield in order to hurt the enemy, a magical attacker doesn't care about all of that, it just attacks and it will hit and will hurt your life, no matter how big is your shield or how lean you monster are. That's why magic is just overpowered.

Here is where the Void ability saves the day, it will reduce by half all the magical attacks, this means that all those annoying pixels and other flies who shoot magic will do no harm to our big bull, actually monster with just 1 magic attack will do 0 damage to Torhilo, I cant stress how many battles this ability saved me.

When to use

Torhilo always come in hand when facing magical creatures, it will destroy the entire team just by itself, so next time that you notice an unusual amount of water battles in your opponent history, you can guess that you will face magical creatures so you can warm up you bull to get into the field because it will be a valuable monster to have in the field.

The cost of happiness

While Torhilo is a great card in my opinion, still not the best card in the game. But for Splinterlands this isn't necessarily bad, because overpowered cards usually are expensive because of the high demand, yet our bull can be found for quite a cheap price both for renting or buying.
Torhilo then makes a great card for those who are playing on a budget or doesn't wanna spend tons of dec and still get value of it.

Good analysis. I like to use it in reverse speed matches as well.
