Engraving Splinterlands cards into wood

in #splinterlands4 years ago

Just to start off with. I don't have a vector image of my card so I have to do a screenshot of it and then convert it to grayscale and try engraving it in my Glowforge. If I had a good SVG file of my Splinterlands cards I could try some other methods like B&W or something else in Inkscape. For this project I just did a screenshot and converted to grayscale in GIMP which I am not that familiar with.

The first time I tried I forgot to cut a rectangle around it so I had to do it over again. The settings on this are vary power at speed 1000 with max power at 90 (which is really low) and the wood is .200 thousandths thick Mahogany ply from Home Depot which you can only order online and I think it has an MDF core because look how the deeper cuts have a yellow color to them.

As you can see this didn't really turn out well. I think a lighter wood and if I can get a vector image of the cards this would be more succesful

Sort:

Maybe I should have reversed the image? I sanded the middle star completely off.

@splinterlands might be able to give you a vector image.
But this is your first blog, so welcome are you new to hive or is this a new account ?
The woodcarving I never saw on hive before and is very creative and eventhough the sanding was maybe to much I like the endresult

I don't like the end result, it looks like crap to me. This does not meet the standards I have when one of my friends or associates ask me to make them something. I am new to hive and I don't understand it. This is a new account. I have a Glowforge laser cutter/engraver and my coworkers and friends are always asking me to make them something. I always have a waiting list/back order. Every week I have at least 3 orders and they are all custom/specific. You can see 70% of the things I make on twitter at username aironeous

Well you are her now and can get orders from hivers now to and get paid in hive hahaha
Well if you want help with this platform let me know and / or come to discord there is a server called the terminal where we give help for free

I'm totally willing to get paid in HIVE, WAX or ETN. If anybody has a request let me know. Keep in mind that I can't mass manufacture IP that does not belong to me. Fan art is a different story, like you don't see cease and desist orders at anime or WOW events and those costumes cost money to make, that's considered fair use. I'm not about to work for free but I'm not going to violate IP either. Most of my projects are one off's anyways.

So go to ntfs and blog on hive tell your art is for sake

Hello @aironeousb! This is @ybanezkim26 from OCD team. We saw that you already posted your first post here in Hive! Congratulations and welcome! However, it would be awesome if you do an introduction post. As a sample of what an intro post is, you can refer to my intro post for reference:

There's no pressure on this. You can choose on whatever information you would like to share.

If you have questions, you can hop into OCD's Discord server and we'll gladly answer your questions. For now, @lovesniper will follow you and we are looking forward to your intro post!
