Psalm 12:6 (KJV)
6The words of the LORD are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times.
Reflections:
In Hebrews 4:12 the Word of God is likened to a discerning sword. In Job 23:12 to that which is more important than food. In Psalm 199:105 to a lamp to guide our feet. In John 17:17 to truth. In our verse today the words of the Lord are likened to perfect purity (the number seven being symbolic of spiritual perfection).
But even though we might have a working knowledge of the written word of God -- without the leading of the Holy Spirit this could still only equal a form of dry religion. The solution:
· Surrender to the tutelage of the Holy Spirit and let Him teach you the word of God personally (1 John 2:27).
· Study and become equipped to rightly divide the word of truth (2 Tim 2:15; 3:16-17).
· Learn to be truly led by the Holy Spirit (John 16:13)
Pure silver (the word of God), working in and through us, via the Holy Spirit, will reflect the true character and nature of the Father’s heart to those who are desperately seeking for Him. Isn’t this what we truly desire? …
