Gurugita 023:Meditate upon Sadguru before beginning any new task

What is the difference between other forms of worship and Guru worship? Other forms of worship grant whatever you seek and then stop with that. Unlike it, when Guru is worshipped, He grants far more than the devotee has desired and more importantly, without the knowledge of the devotee causes a spiritual transformation in his/her intellect! This spiritual transformation gradually paves the way to liberation.

That is why even though Kartaviryarjuna initially approached Datta with an intention of securing his kingdom, he gradually moved up step by step and reached the state wherein he merged with the Almighty.

Swamiji is teaching you this sacred text Guru Gita with the intention that you fulfill all your desires, reach unfathomable heights, open the door for spiritual growth and reach those divine planes that are eternally glowing. He is not limiting himself to mere explanation of the hymn; He is detailing many secrets contained in it for your upliftment. All of you are supremely lucky. Please utilize this chance, this blessing from Datta wisely and try to reach the other shore.

Now let us understand the procedure to worship the Sadguru.

Before setting out to accomplish any good task, we must mandatorily meditate upon our Sadguru. There is no task more supreme than chanting the Guru Gita. Therefore, let us begin this task by worshipping the Guru.

Guru Brahmā Gurur Viṣṇūḥ Gurur-dēvo Mahēśwaraḥ Guru sākṣāt paraṃ brahma tasmai śri Gurave namaḥ

Lord Datta who brought this Guru principle to the Earth, is the primordial Guru, the first Guru. He is the form of the Trinity i.e. He is Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva. All the Gurus who have come down this lineage of Gurus (parampara) begun by Him are also Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva. Further this stanza emphatically declares that Guru himself is Parabrahma!

In this context let us understand how Guru Vedadharma uplifted his disciple Deepaka. It is very important story.

Many eons ago, Guru Vedadharma had a disciple by name Deepaka. Deepaka firmly believed that there could be no God superior to his Guru. Furthermore, it was his firm belief that all Gods existed within his Guru. At one point, when Shiva and Vishnu approached him asking him to seek boons, he refused them and fixed his focus solely on his Guru! Let us understand how his devotion towards his Guru bestowed Him the ultimate boons.

However, the other disciples in the hermitage considered his Guru bhakti to be pretentious and thus would cause severe hindrances in each and every task he began.

It is quite normal that people try to pull down that person who is climbing the ladder of prosperity. Here too, the other disciples were scared that his Guru bhakti would give him unparalled results and were trying to pull him down in some way or the other.
