There IS something special about the lotus flower and I'd like to share it with you.

The Lotus Flower

There are many layers of meaning concerning the lotus flower but at first let's have a look at some features of the flower itself. The lotus flower dwells in the swamp. In fact it prefers and needs humid, muddy environment. And in spite of that it produces an immaculate beautiful flower, free from any stains.

It has defitively a unique dirt-repelling quality. And this quality has also been appreciated and used by contemporary science, in particular in the area of nanotechnology, being called the lotus effect.

Symbolism of the Lotus Flower

When we look at the symbolism, we have an immaculate, pure flower untouched by any muddy impurities and actually thriving in this very environment. So what is the deeper meaning of that?

Although our human nature - our human body, speech and mind - now at this moment is a collection of a variety of negativities and impurities, there is something present in a subtle way which is pure and beyond the reach of impurity.
Now, this something, when recognized and identified, has the power and ability to completely disarm and transform all kinds of negative emotions, depression, pride, anxiety and all kinds of obscurations into a beautiful and blissful flower. The stronger the negativity, the more radiant and vivid our inherent freedom and wisdom will manifest.

This same phenomenon has different names in different traditions but essentially they all mean the same: divine conciousness, buddha nature, primordially pure nature and many more.

Conclusion

If you are open to the possibility that negativity and obscuration is merely a temporary manifestation, a deluded manifestation of an inherently pure reality which has been misunderstood and not recognized, this kind of concept can be very inspiring and even liberating.
In this spirit, thank you for your attention and please free to leave a comment below.

With the best wishes!
