I didn't come here to be nice to everyone
I didn't come here to please everyone
I came here to live authentically in who I am
That may mean some people will be hurt by my truths
They may even want me to feel bad for my truths
But that is their's to understand
Not my burden to carry
I came here to let myself be free
Free to love myself
In whatever form that it takes
Which lets me be free to give, free to love others, free to help others, and free to receive love.
Carrying other's path for them restricts me from loving myself.
It keeps me from being free to give, free to love, free to help others, and free to receive.
I came here to be authentic.
I didn't come here to hide myself so others can hide too
So I will fearlessly stand in my truth, and I won't shake. My mirrors will change and support will be my reflection. Because I'll be supporting myself -- 🌊
Yes, yes, yes! Authenticity is so, so important. Thank you for sharing! You got my follow. We're definitely on the same page. Hope you'll follow my writing as well. After this read I believe you will like it!
I am happy to see people on here who are dedicated to living their truth. Kant said "We should act as if we are free." I believe that much of our lives are determined but we still have some free will and we should act that way. We have enough free will to be who we are and be who we want to be. It is possible to invent an authentic life without having to be self conscious or worried what the "they" think.
Knowing who to listen to to allow my "truths" to morph and evolve is an alchemy I am still learning.
Something I'm still learning as well, thank you for the comment I appreciate it :)
The unapologetic theme of this poem is a bit refreshing although a little offputting. That being said, I think you did a great job of relaying the perspective of the narrator. Good write. Welcome to steemit.
Love that perspective I can see what you mean. I see the energy where it's been directed and I can see how it's off putting.
But it's good. Outside of the comfort zone is where the magic happens. I look forward to seeing more.
