Bajo recientes investigaciones durante los años se ah podido determinar que los fármacos vencidos no son dañinos, la mayoría de ellos mantienen su eficiencia meses después de la fecha de caducidad y mientras va pasando el tiempo éstos van perdiendo eficiencia y esta teoría elimina el mito que dice que cuando los fármacos se vencen son dañinos a la salud. Solo algunos medicamentos mantienen intacto sus propiedades durante el tiempo pero con respecto a otros estos van perdiendo eficiencia en el principio activo del mismo.
